so, first DE at NHMS is done...

Sorry you did'nt enjoy it more. I had the exact opposite reaction. I did my first DE 2 years ago and ended up doing 20 of them that first season. Some times you just end up with a bad group of drivers wich can realy take the fun out of it. I understand about driving on r compounds on the way home. I've driven to Watkins Glen and back on them! About 6 hours from Boston. The tires actually quiet down after a while. Stopping part way home and adjusting tire presures helps also. Being tired can ruin your fun also. I'm thinking about going to NHMS on the 23rd of this month with SCDA, let me know if your interested in going.

i actually liked it, of course, but, you know, i do not afraid to admit - i am purely a recreational driver, at this moment of my life i have nothing left i need to prove to outside world. i had no intent to get from green to yellow/blue/etc running group in one weekend. i just want to feel safe and learn to do something new.
i like to drive my car, i like to have fun. may be as skill will develop level of fun will overgrow level of stress. will see. like i said, most stress was not even on a track, but all that other stuff around it - coming in, going back, logistics, etc.
on question of tires - it was not even a question, if i would not sell my 19" set with PS2s - i would go to track on it, but all i have now is my primary kumho v700 set and winter PA2 set and i sort of assumed it is quite ridiculous to go to drive on a track on winter tires, heck i do not know. it just did not feel right. plus despite what people say i do not think at this stage tires do play any role at all, i may be wrong about it, but i do not think it matters.
i would be interested go to on 23rd if i will be able to drive there nice&slowly and work calmly on 1-2a and 9th corners, how SCDA runs work exactly? is it with instructors also for beginners, can you pls give some details?

The SCDA people are very nice. I believe they run 4 diff groups, beginer, intermediate 1 and 2, then advanced. Format is pretty much the same as the other clubs. I see some of the same people and instructors there from some of the other clubs. Not sure if I'm going yet. I think my track tires are all used up. I need to check my budget and see if I can squeeze out a set of cup sports . Dont want to use my street tires. I'll let you know by mid week. The whole thing becomes a lot less stressfull after a few times. Feel free to pm me if you have any more quetions.

utkinpol,
Reading your posts here, you describe the people on Rennlist (mostly PCA National instructors) who tried to help you look like a bunch of ***... I don't think this is fair. You came with your ideas on the appropriate responses for your own questions and you made very funny statements/questions, like:
"...what are your rpms in each corner usually ?"
"when it got back i was ale to pass every single car in my group when i wanted it"
"i know where my limits are well enough as i do spin my car more or less every 2 weeks on purpose in different corners" (probably your all time best !)
"if you do want to make a fastest clean run possible you do need to know how much precisely you can afford to overheat your tires at what corner at this particular day and how it will affect your traction at next corner..."
Those are just very few extracts from you as this +30 pages thread is now a classic on RL !
I sincerely believe that these people wanted to help. As a beginner you sound more interested in mods that will help you going faster (as if you didn't have enough yet...) even though your main focus should be to work on your skills and accept that you don't know that much on your car handling. As for any other beginner including every instructors when they started this great sport !

please do not speak of all 'people from rennlist' here. i always speak of myself only and what i feel. what other people do yourself included - it`s your own business, like pulling 'statements' out of context without even looking at them.
'rpms in the corner' question was actually perfectly answered by several people very similar to how my instructor answered that and i did put this verbiage pretty much specifically to see how forum crowd would react. i went with my instructor over this on a first day as that was what i was thinking initially before i came to my first track day - looking at track map and computing what max speed i can achieve at which corner. so we went all the way around of what to think of, how to assess the performance, how to feel the line, smoothness, transitions etc. whole 9 yrds plus some.
and it was great to see very detailed similar responses from advanced people even going into some details about very challenging 1-2a section, such sorts of questions really separate typical @ssholes from really smart people. it was very good to see that.
'to pass any single car' - was a classic trolling to stir the pot. all i had to say was a good feel on a second day after lousy first day when finally i started to feel the track and after starting fourth in the pack at staging and then after letting 2-3 cars to pass me around I went ahead of 4-5 cars on my own. felt really good indeed to start feeling how correct line helps to build up momentum and how it results in much faster corners.
'spin' comment - totally funny how you track people react to this. very rare auto-x day goes without a spin, intended or not. i call any auto-x spin intended when you start pushing each corner and have your rear loose going on throttle most of the course. it was best part to see how people do not able to jump their limits to try to understand what was written and it was frustrating to some degree. i even gave them video to see samples of such spins - where at each subsequent run corner entrance gets pushed later and braking point gets pushed later and it results in a spin - totally 'on purpose'.
same about overheating - pressure jumps up differently in morning session compared to afternoon session. tires react differently at subsequent element depending of how aggressive you were at previous element and how much of excessive braking was used, or if you drifted over a cone on throttle making tires scream or went way wide and smooth 'track style' like. have you ever seen people pouring water on tires or see how rubber literally smokes at some elements? i do not think it is common for track, it is quite different for sure. and it does not make it 'wrong'. it is all just a part of a skill.
so, it was all fun. some folks there were actually able to see what i was actually saying behind all the trolling and teasing, i cannot say if i were too interested in any answers honestly after appx. first third of discussion but still it was quite educational. as you took time to find me here I felt that it may have some sense to tell all that to you, but, frankly, it is unlikely will change anything as i do not think you care to listen to anything, as some other rennlist 'helpers'. but it is their choice, not mine.

please don't bring crap from other forums to this one...and if you have a problem utkinpol bring it to the attention of a moderator rather than lashing out yourself...thread closed
