Has anyone tried Xpel paint protection
Xpel is a vendor on 6speed so I thought I would get a quote from one of their dealers/installers near Milwaukee. I live in Oshkosh WI and there are vitually no experienced clear bra installers within 90 miles, thus I will need to travel to Milwaukee. Anyway, here's the quote from the installer.
"This is in response to your inquiry about paint protection film (clear bra)for your 2006 Porsche 911. My estimate would be around $850 for the front bumper fascia and hood and fender kit. I can only estimate the price because of the variations of designs for the 911, whether it has an aero design front bumper and/or it's a Carrera "S", "4" or "4S". This price would include installation but sales tax may be extra. We began installing paint protection film in 2004 and have done thousands of vehicles in the area."
First...has anyone tried the Xpel paint protection product? Second...does $850 sound right? The quote seems high based on what I have read about 3M paint protection. I have never had a clear bra installed before and regreted not having protected the paint on a few on my cars. My '06 has 16K miles and the bumper cover and hood still look decent, but there are a few nicks in the paint that I would get touched up prior to the paint protection.

I have it on my '10 997.. I did the complete front facia, the hood (I went up 25" from the leading edge of the hood), both fenders (on a line drawn across the hood's 'bra'), both mirrors, both headlights, both LED running lights, both 'coves' where the door handles are, and both door edge guards.
$850 is a fair price.

I have the 3M product. And I think 3M bought Avery, which also made a product.
Anyway, long story short, I had the entire front end wrapped and the rear fender pieces replaced. Also had the door handles done and the door sills done (the car is white) - similar to what NC 997 described. HOWEVER, I caution you not to have the hood partially done. You can get the entire hood wrapped so that there is NO LINE at all. That's what I had done. It looks much better and has better durability. Also, my fenders were completely wrapped with the headlights removed.
Anyway, mine looks fantastic I'm sure it will last.
The cost for all of that was $1250 and it is money well spent in my opinion.

I also have my '09 Carrera fitted with product which I can't remember the brand. I think it may be the 3M.
+1 do the entire hood. I have another car with it half done and it looks strange.

Actually, I discussed just that when I took the car to my installer. I would have prefered to have the entire hood done, but that wasn't an option. He told me that the rolls of material he uses are only 30" (I think) wide, meaning that he couldn't do the entire hood. If I could find another installer who'd do the entire hood, I'd probably have it done. Regardless, IMHO, doing part of the hood is better than leaving it exposed.

I don't think my installer has the equipment to allow him to cut a piece that wide - or at least that's what he told me when I suggested doing the entire hood. He's done 1600+ cars, so I can't imagine that he's never done a complete hood.
