The car is tainted, you'd better really want the color, options etc. Don't you love the way the car was hammered past the limiter right before it is offered for sale? Same thing showed on mine, but I didn't have anything past range 2. You don't get above range 2 unless you miss a shift - shifting at redline through the range won't get you there.

Being new to the forum, I think I'm missing the reference
Thanks guys. One would think a definitive answer could be had. The car would have been sold with a few months left on the CPO, but since it is offered through a broker/independent dealer, the CPO is void. The car is 6.5 yrs old with 50205 miles. It runs strong and there are no leaks and that seems to be the only positive. It seems range 3 - 5 were one episode however a long time ago. I would like to find a one owner car soon - perhaps the end of summer there will be better pickings.

cb333, well stated.
I too would pass.
There can be no definitive answer since you are basically asking a question of "how tolerant of risk are you?" So here don't want to take chances and others do and in the end, every car gets sold one way or another.
Good luck and enjoy whatever ride you buy.

Why buy a tainted car when there are others which aren't ? Plus it has over 50K miles... that in itself makes it off limits . the seller has a broker? ( can't even face the new buyer)
Once ANY car crosses 50K miles that owner ought to be firmly commited to driving it into the ground.
If it looks to good to be true --
it isn't .
