Thoughts on Targa 4?
So looking at a 2007 Targa 4, manual, has 40k miles and optioned with Bose, Nav and 19" Carrera S wheels. I've negotiated with the dealer to $49K, seems to be a good price when i look up the KBB tradein and Edmunds TMV tradein value.
Then i looked up the carfax and it shows the car has had it's flywheel replaced in Dec 08 and the transmission was removed to repair. Then car fax shows the Transmission fluid was flushed 3 months later.
Whats your thoughts on the price?
How about the previous transmission issue?

49K Canadian for an 07 targa???? (Agghhh!!! Kills me to see it depreciate that quickly). US, Canadian...either way, seems like an okay deal.
If the transmission was fixed under warranty...then hopefully that is one less thing to worry about as a happy owner. Did you push up-shifts and down shifts? If it felt good...then I say go for it.
As a proud owner, the Targa4 is a great little car and is hands down, the best Porsche I've ever driven in winter. Only thing I'm not happy about is the extra tint when the roof is retracted and I'm backing out my double chicain driveway).

I have a 2007.5 Targa 4 and love love love it...
49k is good for the car.
I paid 58k put with 24k on it about 6 months ago for a 2007.5 (sold originally in Sep 07), with similar options and a clean Carfax. Is there any warranty left? At that price, considering the history, it may be worth having it certified in the US for an extended warranty.

Some dealers supply carfax with all the service and warranty work information. It doesn't come up with detailed information on the carfax report but you have records. I pulled the carfax on one of our cars and it showed 23 records that were all service and warranty.

Update:
Car is coming from a non porsche dealer so no CPO is available, any thoughts on a good extended warranty?
I sent the car in for a PPI, went to Callas Rennsport (Those guys did an incredible job, very thorough). Overall car is good, few items need to be addressed but they are all under warranty.
DME scan was pretty clean:
Engine Over Rev Data - Total engine hours 1348.40: GREAT
Range #1
Ignitions 334 @1348.3h (Probably my test drive)
Range #2
46 @ 641.9h
Range #3
7 @ 641.7h

Engine Compression test results:
All cylinders are 200 Lbs
Engine Hours:
1348.400h (Multiplied by an average of 30MPH= Approximately 40,452 miles) Matches
Engine Leak Down test results:
1)3% 4)2%
2)2% 5)2%
3)3% 6)3%
Based on the inspection it appears the warranty issue in Dec 08 where carfax showed flywheel replaces actually resulted in a new gearbox as the numbers don't match to the VIN report.
Overall based on the report, Looks like i'll be a new first time Porsche owner shortly.
