However, I'm not sure that the "we must be a good company, because if we weren't somebody would have already shut us down" argument is the best way to convince people to buy your product. I think you have some great photography of your products, but my decisions about what to buy are based on the reviews or testimonials of my peers, when available.

I cant get to detailed here , but i can say , there has been a few customer's here that have purchased wheels in the pass couple of weeks and they can tell you we have been 100%. We have nothing to do with Adv1. We know there was issue's that have happen , but the new Owner has taken care of the customers that had a problem with the old owner.
Thanks

To get back on topic, I was looking at Doc GTO's Avant Garde Ruger M310 wheels (P40 replicas) and I have to admit - for 1/3 the price of the HRE, its a very attractive wheel. I know they are heavier, but any track driving I do is for fun and not for FTOD (fast time of the day).

Is 3-4 lbs/wheel that noticeable? I know forged > cast when it comes to construction, but how bad is cast? For $1600/set you could replace a full set of bent rims and still come out ahead.

Sorry gravedgr, I didn't mean to take your thread OT. I personally agree with your logic about the benefits of less expensive wheels (although I don't track my car.)

No worries - I think its admirable that in most car forums, the members try to look out for each other.

The weight issue will be completely up to you. I can say from personal experience that my favorite looking wheel is the 19" Ruf (cast). I ran those on my first 997 after having the original lobster claws on the car, and the difference was significant. I'm not sure what the weight difference is between the two in all fairness, but I'd guess it would be close to the mentioned 3 to 4 lb mark. Overall speed won't diminish, however it will impact how quick you get to that speed. Acceleration and "unsprung weight" as mentioned so often here on 6speed certainly have a direct correlation. If you search for "unsprung weight" on here, you'll see a lot of posts around that very subject.

Again, if you're going to use your car strictly as a boulevard cruiser, it's not going to make much difference. If you're looking to increase performance, probably the quickest and easiest seat of your pants difference will come from going to lighter wheels, especially off the line. So, it really depends on what you plan on doing with the car. My guess is that if you're not going to lower it, you're not looking to invest a bunch of money into the car (which I wish I was so disciplined to do! ). In that case, the HRE copies are probably your best option.

Oh, and braking is another thing to consider. I do know from personal experience that the lightest weight wheels I've owned are the RG19's I'm currently running. Compared to the Techarts I just took off, it was like moving from a dump truck to a Miata. For the record, my Techarts were 20's, but my 19" Ruf's felt nearly identical as far as weight. Okay, I'm off my soapbox!

Thanks for the feedback. This will be a daily driver (M-F) with the primary task of taking my kids to/from daycare. Other than that, it will be an occasional weekend driver and fun errand toy for the wife and I. Lowering is incompatible with my driveway. No plans to add serious track parts, but I do like to run a DE here and there. I thought about getting a set of lightweight track wheels for that, but not sure it really makes sense.

PS - how about some pics of your interior? I have a "critique my build" thread on rennlist and you have some interior pieces I'm looking at.

Sure thing! Here are a few. If you need anything in particular, I'm happy to assist. Just let me know. (Apologies in advance for the poor coloring as the sun, along with my out of date camera, make reds look orange.)

I also added a pic with the car on the 20" Techarts BEFORE it was lowered. Really filled in the gaps, and I had little to no clearance issues, even with the aerokit. Can't say that now, but can't complain!

Beautiful daycare runner you have there!!! I have very fond memories of my father dropping me off in elementary school driving his restored 1964 Mercedes 230SL. We lived in a $50K house at the time, but to me, it felt like we were millionaires! At that age, the kids get more out of it than the adults. Trust me!

Here are a couple of pic's of my Speed Yellow 997S since you have a SY car, and color can make a big difference. First pic is with the 19" lobster claws (black obviously), and the second is with the 20" Techarts, both with stock suspension.

I was a victim of the old 360forged which was owned by Jordan (now the owner of ADV 1). Alain, the new owner of 360forged did help me out to solve the problem. And I am now ordering another set of wheels for my audi S5 from them.

My son called my 911 "Daddy's race car" and points towards every other yellow car we pass now saying "Look Daddy - your race car!". He calls my C63 the "race car" sometimes, but not as often - although he does like the exhaust sound and the loads of torque: "Daddy, go faster!"

On a serious note, have you had any problems with your red seat belts fading? Belts are the one major "unknown" left in my build, I think. I had yellow belts on my '07, but have concerns about red belts in the '11 - color matching, fading, staining clothing when wet (red is the worst color about transferring), etc.

My experience has been very positive with red belts. I had red belts in two 964's, and now with the red 997. I don't typically drive in rain, so I can't relate to the getting wet thing, but I have 4 kids, and two who like to ride in the back with the red belts. They both wear a lot of light colors, and I've never seen a color transfer of any kind, nor have I ever experience a problem of fading, finger prints from the kids showing up or any other kinds of stains, etc... My guess would be that red "could" obviously fade if left out in the sun every day for years, but I still think that would be a stretch. Now yellow belts are a little different. I've never had the yellow, but had a friend with yellow belts who had finger print grease stains on his from a mechanic that refused to come out.

I would venture to say that this is possible in the lighter colored belts such as red or grey, but same would show up if bad enough, on black belts, especially the fading aspect.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to order the red belts, and I'm not sure I'd have another 997 without them. I think they really add to just about any interior combo...

Another option... order the car with the black belts (if you desire) and then buy a pair of 997.2 red belts to have if you change your mind. I actually have a set of 997.2 red belts that are "used" at best, but they came out of a car that was put on the track almost immediately upon purchase (not my car by the way). They were purchased to go in my SY 997, but they never made it in the car given my most recent red car. I'd make you a good deal...if you in fact went that direction.

...OR, order some brand new ones from Suncoast. Again, just my opinion, I would go with the red belts one way or another.
