Run Flat Tires

Do they make Run Flat tires for Porsche sized tires?

I had the GoodYear Eagle F1 SuperCar tires on my Z06.... those things were monsterous!

Do they make run flats in smaller sizes? I didn't want to hijack the other thread about spare tires...

I keep a tire plug kit and a $40 air pump that plugs into my cigarette lighter.... won't help if the tire shreds as in the other thread, but its better than nothing.

As for fix-a-flat cans... doesn't all that gook screw up the TPMS's?

I would DEFINITELY stay away from runflats! Poor ride and poor wear. Porsche went the right route.... normal tires with air pump and sealant!

One of the biggest complaints with BMW was run flat tires . I don't know why Chevy placed them on the Zo6 but I think they were a specific special performance tire and it still didn't do any favors for the car .

Run flats are a pure money maker for the manufacturer .
In fact BMW M cars do NOT have run flats .

Porsche went the right route .

RFs are terrible on any car and would be especially on a Porsche. They came std on my wife's sport sedan and I couldn't wait to replace them! Not only are they noisy and hard as rocks, they will wander a bit, have terrible wear and are 2-3x as expensive as conventional tires. Even my wife noticed the difference in ride and handling when I swapped them out.

I think you'll be VERY sorry if you put them on a Porsche...

Check behind the removable covers in your front trunk (aka frunk). You should already have a Porsche air compressor there, along with Porsche's version of fix-a-flat, which is their recommended way to repair a roadside flat. (However, I also carry a tire plug kit.)

I specifically ordered my BMW 535 without the sport suspension to get normal tires and am very happy with my decision. I was warned by my friends to stay away from the 3 series ( all have runflats... no place for a spare) and the sport suspension on the 535 which has runflats.

Coming from two previous BMWs (330i & 135i) both with "performance" run flats all I can say is run, don't walk away. The handling was terrible and the wear was ridiculous. Go the Porsche route.
