2012 911
#6
I've heard the following: To be introduced at Frankfurt in Fall 2011, in the UK by EOY 2011, in the U.S. late spring 2012 as a 2013 model. It will be larger, more luxurious and more expensive. Cayman and Boxster will both grow in size to make room for the entry level sports car. Cayman will now be in former 911 price range (maybe more power?). Strategy driven by VW.

My sale rep told me the car will be much much lighter thanks to the Carbon Fiber and Magnezium incorperated into the Chasis and Body...

I want to buy my first 911. I've only had a Cayenne S before. I am waiting for the 2012 911 S, or i heard they'll call it RS not S anymore.
Fastest car i had was Mercedes SL 55 AMG (500 HP) with a Lorinser body kit.
How would the 911 S compare to that?

Then what happens with the Panamera? Does that get larger too? I hate to see Porsche following in BMW's foot steps. Look at what has happened to the 3 series. It encroaches on the 5! As the 3er has gotten bigger and heavier, BMW introduced the 1er to fill in behind it. What has the 5er become? I don't understand why they even offer the 5 series any more.
I really hope VW leaves Porsche alone a la, Lamborghini. Leave the Boxter/Cayman as the "entry level" cars, the 911 as the premium sports car, the Panamera as a "GT" and the Cayenne in the SUV segment. Don't move the 911 "up market" and certainly don't offer a true "entry level" Porsche; that is what BMWs and Corvettes are for!

I'd day they are about equal. I had a cls63. I think my 997.2 s is about the same in quickness. Except from 70-150 maybe. The next 911s should have more than 400hp so probably faster given it's lighter

I have an RS 60 and love the way it drives but would like more power.
I drove a modle 1 GT3 and liked it real well but the RS is still better balanced.
The new 911 may be just the ticket and along with the fact that my wife hates my stick, No smart a$$ remarks, I could get the PDK which should make for great car.
Balance could bring somewhere around mid to low 40s on the front and mid to high 50s on the rear. I also heard that it will be available with active engine mounts.
