Just purchased a 07 C4S. I notice when i start the car, the exhaust has a fluttering sound, Im not sure if this is normal as i only got a chance to drive 1 other 997. I dont hear any backfiring or popping, so i assume its normal??


The car has the sport exhaust option as well but its not on.

 

I also have an 07 C4S and this is normal. when engine warns up, this evens out. I do not have the sports exhaust option but I did the "gundo hack" and it sounds very nearly like the sports exhaust sound. LOVE it !!

 

Start mixture is a bit rich which gives it the quality you describe.

 

Sounds like you're hearing the Helmholtz resonator.

Mine does it, too. It goes away after a minute.

 

thanks for the heads up. The sound does go away after warm up.

Yeah the sound and tuning of the exhaust is awesome, especially when comparing it to my prior Z06 ..
