New wheels or not?

New wheels or not?
I have a 997 C2S Cab with the Lobster claws. I am debating looking for a set of OEM Turbo wheels with the narrow body rear 11" 67mm offset. Probably hard to find and/or expensive, but looking to do a change. Any opinions? I really want to keep the oem status of the car and not put on aftermkt wheels. What should these Turbo wheels cost?
thanks,
Marc

IMO the lobsters are the worst looking wheels for the 997.1, I am not a fan of the Turbo wheels either, however it will look better. I like the Porsche Sport Design wheels, although they are a lot of work to clean.

But, I have a chip out of my left rear; need a new one to sell my car.
Or maybe I'll get a wheel guy to do a repair; either way bye-bye 997, hello TR6!

I do like the lobsters, but I think I like the Turbo wheels better. The C2 S could be ordered with Turbo wheels so it is still "stock". I believe that is why that made the narrow offset oem Turbo wheels. I do not like "non stock" wheels even though some look very neat. If anyone knows the vales of 9 out of 10 Lobsters and 9 out of 10 Turbos, please post. THANKS

Curious... you are replacing a 997 with a 60s TR6? Nice British roadster, no 911 though, and full of gremlins, but you must know that.

I love old cars.
I actually bought the 997 for my wife but I soon inherited it when she found it was....a bit more dedicated..... than she wanted. I anticipated that happening so I made sure it had a six speed.

Get the OEM turbo rims. One piece factory forged and the wider offsets really improve handling. The fronts are 8.5" wide, which really helps reduce understeer. The NB wheels will be very hard to find as well. I've had mine for a while and really like them.

I did exactly the conversion marc2828 speaks of on my '05 997S - switched the NB lobster forks for NB OEM Turbo wheels. It took about a year of searching, but every now and then a set will pop-up on Ebay. That's where I found mine - paid about $3k with tires for the set (used off an '09 model). You can purchase a new set from Wheel Enhancement for about $5500 wheels only.
The specs on the NB Turbo vs. Lobster Forks are identical except the Turbo wheels weigh about one pound more per wheel.

JTaylor...thanks for the valuable reply. In terms of using the wide body Turbo rims...here are my thoughts. The fronts are 8.5" wide instead of 8". So the tire will be a 1/2" or almost 13mm wider. This will be at or protrude past the wheel well. On the back, the wheels are both 11", but the offset is 51mm vs 67mm on the NB. So the wheel edge will sit 16mm wider. I have spacers at 5mm, and it looks correct. I think another 11mm will not look stock. I am looking for the NB turbo rims. Just my thoughts...thanks for all your help.

If you check my car and ask others, the tires don't protrude past the fenders. Far from it in the front. The fronts are no where close to flush, you could probably run 5 mm spacers. My rears are really close, but I'm running 305 tires not 295's. You should be able to find TT take offs with near new tires for close to $2500 - way less than what was suggested. You'll also be able to drive on them versus search for them. Just my 2 cents.
