Road & Track March Issue

The 997 C2S wins overall in performance and subjective ratings of the 10 sports cars they compared. They say it is the BEST sports car in the world under $100K.
The C2S ends up in third place because they adjust the ratings based on price so the Vette can come in first, B--- S---!

Tell me about it... I would much rather have the SLK than the vette. Infact, the only cars in that whole comparo that I would take the vette over, is the S2000 and Z350.

That article had something for the Vette, 997S, and Boxster S guys to be happy with...they successfully covered as many bases as they could. They said the 997S was the best sports car in the world for under $100k, and the 997S came in first without price factored in. They factored in price so the Vette could win something. And a majority of the guys picked the Boxster S as their favorite car.

A little something for everybody...

You can set a limit, i.e. best sports car for under $100k, or best sports car under $30k, or best sports car price no factor, or here's what we think and you make your own decision whether or not the cost of entry is worth it.

They did the best sports car is the 911 period. I hate to break it to you but for most people even a $5K difference in price is a HUGE determining factor when buying a car. Bang for buck the Vette is unmatched.

Shooting lower I would go for the 350Z and given an unlimited budget a C2S just like most people......

They actaully had an article in Motor Trend a few months ago comparing the 911 S to a Z51 C6 Corvette. The Porsche won BOTH the subjective & objective catagories, but still came in 2nd. It lost by like 18 points, but when you read the ratings the Price factor cost it 21 pts.

I mentioned that in my post above.

Well, you're not breaking anything to me. I understand money and society very well.

As for best "bang for the buck", that belongs in my opinion to the '03 Mustang Cobra.

I was shocked to see this as well. A couple of Porsche dealers I know told me that Porsche is VERY VERY conservative when they publish their 0-60 times. I hear that the 997's get much faster and better gas milage after 3K....that is awesome indeed!!!
