I have mixed feelings on the car . At the end of the cycle with the 993,996, and now 997 Porsche released a special edition. They also did it weith the Boxster, Cayman, and even the Cayenne . I am not including the Turbo or Gt3 cars in this reference because it's such a different market .

In almost every case except for the 993 the car cost more , had nice amenities, was somewhat exclusive .... BUT they just didn't hold value . Unlike the 993 the 997 production timeline was 6 years (2005-2011) and as impressive as the 997 is I am not sure if it will go down in history as the best 911 ever built. So in essense the person will buy the car only to see the new model come out and the value plummet. If the 991 (next model) is a success then it will plummet even more that a tough thought to digest after spending 120K a year before.

Maybe I'm just thinking too rational because I have two cars already but if I had none and wanted to get a new Porsche today I would buy a Gt3RS OR if it had to be a "road car" I would seek a large discount on a 2010 leftover car. The Gt3RS will be the benchmark 997 along with the 997.1 Turbo (in my opinion) and as for the 997.2S --that's the car to find a discount on and if one is coming late to this 997 party a good price won't sour if the 2012 991 turns out to be amazing.

I read these comments.

It is amusing to read peoples dislike of P's sales strategies and design procedures. At the end of the day...If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I do agree to an extent that the price point is a bit stiff but you do end up with a fairly unique car. A seat style option would have been nice IMO.
Climbing over those as a DD would get to me after awhile. I get lazier everyday.

I will still look into this car; incoming new model or not.

I find that the majority of those who dislike P-cars are those who've never owned one, and will likely never own one. They can drive their mini-vans, I'll stay with the Carrera.
