That website lists the 996/997 Fister sports muffler for $225. Can those be modded with Gundo hack?

My advice - just go ahead and do it to yours for ~$100. If you don't like it, or you want to go back to stock down the road, just post here and you'll almost certainly find someone who wants to try the hack - you can trade your Gundo's for their stock mufflers.

I just started a separate thread on the muffler removal and sound. Just came back from a nice ride with errands, so I got to hear it in all conditions:

On the highway in 6th with windows up or down, it's almost imperceptible. Sounds like stock with zero drone.

Around town in first and second gear at stoplights, etc. it's noticeably louder. Has a nice deep rumble, then a throaty, slightly raspy sound when you accelerate normally. This is the only time when I feel at all self-conscious that people might be looking for the Honda Civic with coffee cans. But it's not at all like that - sounds quite good, and still maintains the characteristic 997 sound.

At full throttle, I was actually shocked at how good it sounds. It doesn't get as loud as I expected... just more beautiful! It really transforms under hard throttle and just sings. I couldn't get enough of it today.

I personally think that description is worth more than a sound clip. But at some point, maybe I'll try to get a decent representation recorded - tough to do.

Get the FisterD exhaust. The workmanship is impeccable and the sound is amazing... no drone whatsoever. Price is pretty affordable and quality is top notch.

There are vendors that I just keep going back and back again... they are just great...

Some of them:

Painted Trim and Audio iPod Interface: Eric at bumperplugs
Carbon fiber: Daniel at DB carbon interior in Germany
OEM parts: Ryan at Suncoast Motorsports
PSE like Exhaust: Darin at FisterD Motorsports

I will support them forever and recommend them with no hesitation...
