What is so poor about its price compared to a GT3? It's not likely that someone who can afford a GTS cannot afford a GT3.
A prescient observation as I am considering purchasing a 2011 GTS or GT3 since the prices are relatively comparable.
I've driven manuals for years and am going to rent out a PDK CS to really
get a sense of this transmission. If I really enjoy it I will go GTS - of course.
Otherwise it will likely be GT3.

I am getting a GTS but only because I want a cab. Otherwise it would be a GT3 for sure. Btw, my GTS cab is going to be a manual.

I considered going the GT3 route, but it would mean getting another car for the daily daycare commute - and that would mean the p-car would get driven roughly 0-1 days per week instead of 5-6 days per week.

^ exactly what happened to me and why I chose a Carrera S in 2006. I could have waited a year for a Turbo but, impatience added to my feeling that a Carrera S would feel more like a sports car (lighter, rwd), steered me towards getting my present car.

Just put in my order for a GTS cab, Meteor grey, Grey Top, full Terracotta. I cant wait to get this car, porsche put together a great tribute to the outgoing 997 with this model.

How do you order with Sport chrono and no clock, anyone figure this out yet?
Also....anyone thinking of 200 cell cats on this engine, I wonder what that would do to the hp and torque...

Probably don't order SC and work out a deal with the dealer to do the update with software and buttons only.
