What are these called (picture)??
Hi Folks --
I'm looking to replace these on my '08 C4S - the black part in this picture that protects the front of the fenders. The ones I currently have are white (white on white) and getting a little yellow-ish from waxing.
I want to replace them (or perhaps just have them painted black) - but I have NO idea what these are called.
Fender guards
Sill protectors
Been googling furiously w/no luck.
Thanks!!

They are called fender stone guards...I think that IS what you are looking for!

Check That link!
I doubt the paint will stick! You may want to have a vinyl wrap co...cut them out of black material,if you choose to go that route!

I wonder if the black stone guards from the newly released 997 Speedster will be offered as a Tequipment option - kinda like the Fuch wheels off the 997 Sport Classic?
I wouldn't recommend painting the OEM parts black as it will just chip over time and look worse. At the very least, you should be able to replace them with OEM clear ones.

Thanks guys - with the proper name I was able to search the forum and get some useful info. I may consider getting two custom made black ... I think it could look pretty slick and avoid the discoloration issue going fwd...

I was just talking to my Porsche body shop guy and he said there is a 3M black stone guards that can replace those OEM guards. So any shop who does 3M there in the US should have them. They quoted me $160 Canadian plus taxes, so it should be no more than $100-120 there to replace.

Does anyone have a picture of white (or lighter body color) on black stone guards? (Other then the crappy picture I posted at the onset of an older 911).
Would be cool to see ... maybe I'll photoshop one to see if it doesn't exist.
I'm surprised more people haven't done this ...

ooOOOOO thanks! I kinda like it but not totally bought off -- I was thinking of doing a **light** gray ... something that offsets the white a little ... I'm going to go to a decal/clear bra place tomorrow and look at some options.
I like that - it's certainly better then the yellowish crud I'm running now ... thanks again!

My '87 911 has the OEM stone guards. They are $32 from Pelican, but are made for the earlier models- they can likely be trimmed to work on a 997.
My 997SC has a matte black custom vinyl checkerboard in the same spot, pic attached.
