Congrats. I'm also looking to get in to a 4s on the gen 2 997 in the future from a 996 c4s. Looking for either cab or 4s as well. Enjoy in good health.

I was / am shocked at how much different the driving experience is in the gen 2 997, relative to the 996 C4S. Honestly, shocked. I was really happy with my 996 - went from liking the car to loving the car. I kept thinking that I was crazy to swap from a car that I loved so much to just get a glass roof.

Forgetting for a minute the whole Targa vs. Coupe vs. Cab discussion - I'm quite sure that you can't go wrong with the current generation 997 4S. It really is that big of a difference. If you haven't driven one yet, I highly recommend an elongated test drive.

Good luck!

Very Nice!!!

Can you guys give me some info on "Targa's"?

I thought the original Porsche Targa's the whole top roof came off... kinda like the Ferrari 308 that Magnum drove... right?

Does the roof on this come off as a removable pannel, or is it just a really big sunroof that slides back?

The glass panel just slides back.

I believe the Targa is more popular in Europe than here in the US. Hence why they continue to make them.

One of the best looking Targas of the 997 Series...

That is a great looking Targa. So how did you find the car? Did you search nationwide, or just locally. If all goes well, my next Porsche will be a Targa--- hopefully one just like yours. Congrats.

Thanks!

I searched nationwide - both on eBay and on the Porsche.com site. Generally there are a handful - usually 3 to 6 on eBay and something like 14 to 18 on Porsche.com. For three months it was part of my morning routine. I was pretty picky - I knew I wanted a six speed with the sport chrono - and was willing to be flexible on color, etc. In the end, I got lucky - black on black is a great combination for this car, and it has every option I cared about except the rear wiper and factory sport exhaust.

Good luck!
