I thought the original Porsche Targa's the whole top roof came off... kinda like the Ferrari 308 that Magnum drove... right?

Does the roof on this come off as a removable pannel, or is it just a really big sunroof that slides back?
From the mid-60's to the mid '90's (964) the top panel lifted off - basically like the Ferrari 308.

Starting with the '96 993 Targa, Porsche changed to the current configuration of a sliding glass roof. It drops down and then slides in front of the rear glass (from the perspective of being in the car). And yeah, in simple terms, it's like a giant sunroof.

Gorgeous car and great pics. The Targa is the best all round variant they make.

Even better--

So there is someone else that checks the Porsche site for Targas regularly. I'm very happy it worked out for you so well. I look forward to reading periodic updates on the board regarding your Targa. Congrats again.

For three months it was part of my morning routine. I was pretty picky - I knew I wanted a six speed with the sport chrono - and was willing to be flexible on color, etc. In the end, I got lucky - black on black is a great combination for this car, and it has every option I cared about except the rear wiper and factory sport exhaust.

Good luck!

First post - hello!

Congtrats on a fine choice. I'm into my 2nd month of searching for a CPO Targa 4S and I'm thinking I might have to order new soon. My dealer found me a Macadamia Nut '09 with just 1300 miles, but I'm just not sure of that color. You can't go wrong with Black/Black though - yours is beautiful!
Cheers
Greg

thanks Greg. Yeah, I passed on a Macadamia / Tan Targa - it's a good color, just not sure how well it's going to age. And yep, hard to go wrong with Black/Black. I couldn't be happier.

And regarding the daily search...now that I found the car, I kind of miss the daily routine of looking at what's available.

Thanks - on both counts.

My dog is commonly known in the U.S. as a Belgian Shepherd. Great dogs! Matches the car too.
