997.1S Tiptronic Gearbox Characteristic?
I have a 07 997.1 C2S with a tip gearbox. NO sport chrono.
While the car is in "M" mode its fantastic to drive, I must say in "D" mode, the gearbox is rather dissapointing for a Porsche in that the responsiveness of gear change is rather lagging. I'm a cruiser (and quite surprised how comfortable this car is when cruising) so I get up to 5th gear rather easily and am maybe at low 2000+ rpm. When I put pedal to the metal, I find it is very slow to shift down to 2nd or 3rd gear. Also, several times, I find especially from 3rd to 2nd or from 4th to 3rd when at low rpms of 2000+, the gearbox jerks like its trying to find the right gear.
I have spoken to a tracker and he said this is rather characteristic of the older tip tronic gearbox in the 997.1.
Not sure if any one else has this problem?

Due to my physical limits.....(see avitar) I have many years of street and track experience with Tiptronic.
Tip in drive is horrible if you are looking for that sport feeling, especially without Sport Chrono Plus. There is nothing you can really do about it either other than but a newer car with PDK and be sure to get Sport Chrono Plus because that unlocks a lot of the features and benefits of PDK.

Thanks for chiming in guys.
I guess the gearbox is kinda dissapointing considering its a Porsche. Makes me wonder why everyone raves about the C2S before PDK. I still like the car but like I said, the gearbox is dissapointing.

?!? Do you know that the 997.1 S (before PDK) is also available with a 6-speed manual?

Yup... I guess its just surprising that a marque like porsche had a gearbox like the tip and I think it was around for quite a while.
