3rd Radiator opinions
Just curious, is this a useful mod adding a 3rd radiator to a 997 CS? What are the best ones to use if you do? Just trying to find some pros and cons on this. Thx

If you need it because the engine runs hot on the track, get it. Otherwise, why add weight and a rock-puncture-prone center unit?

Why do you think you need this? The car is designed to work with the 2 large side-mounted radiators. If that is not cooling your car sufficiently, something is amiss. Are both fans behind each side radiator working when heat requires? Is there a block in air flow? Have you checked your coolant level and constituency?
I run a central 3rd radiator as part of a stand-alone closed-system intercooler for my supercharger. Other than that, if things are working as designed, you should not need it at all.

3rd radiator on the .1 cars with Tip is for the Tip.
For a street car or car that is tracked for a DE 2-5 times a year there is no reason for a 3rd radiator. These cars are designed to run at a certain temp. Synth oil can handle prolonged temps and the car runs better at higher temps that cars of yesteryear that ran at lower temps,

My car is an X51 car and so it has the third radiator. To avoid any potential stone problems, I installed the Cargraphic guards on the bumper. I don't think you need the third radiator on a regular car.

Why do you need one on a X51?

i installed a 3rd rad in my 2009 w/PDK. it ran hot at the track on hot days. i also installed the cargraphic screens.
heat = bad. they put in on the 2011's and made it available for retrofit.
my oil temp was running very high so if it ever gets warm again in seattle, i'll be covered.
