Race Day at Little Tally...
Enjoyed a track day at "Little Tally" recently. This track, whose real name is Little Talladega Gran Prix, was built for motorcycles, and as such, is almost totally flat, and has NO CONCRETE, and lots of grassy flat runoff.
It's a ridiculously safe, amazingly fun track. It was expanded and redesigned a couple years ago, though is still just 1.4 miles around, with about 10 turns, including 3 straights, a fast chicane, a decreasing radius turn, and an off-camber sweeper.

More pics...
Ferrari F430 Challenge: true racecar. Race built, no interior, etc. Rides 2 inches above the ground, camber is completely silly.
Miata: Only thing Miata about it is the sheet metal. Turbocharged engine and custom suspension got him around the track nearly as fast as the track-prepped F430 Challenge car. BTW, the mint green is an OEM Porsche paint color.
997SC : My modified VF-E Supercharger ran strong all day long, never got hot at all, with the intercooler doing it's job perfectly. This engine, as modified, will out-perform anything out there, all day long.
I look forward to doing a mini LeMans endurance challenge with my crew next time out. Can you tell which crew is mine?
Hint: we're pretty comfortable, and not nervous at all. Honest. Nothing to lose.

Yes, the passenger side tires are shredded nearly to the wheel. I was running street rubber (Bridgestone RA-11's), and they were to my opinion very greasy on this track.
I was doing 120mph on the short straights, standing on the brakes, back onto full boost down the next straight, then sliding/ power drifting through the turns due to the street tires and stock suspension.
I'd like to add track rubber/ wheels and springs next time out.
I had more power than the Ferrari, but:
-track rubber vs. street rubber
-race suspension vs. stock PASM
-race composite rotors/ pads vs. OEM Carrera S rotors and pads
Now, the OEM Carrera S brakes are great. But on track, particularly a short track with 3 high-speed straights and 10 turns, having greater confidence in slowing hard would be nice.
Really hope you like the pics.
I will try to post some GoPro videos soon, too.

I felt like the stock PASM, brakes, and tires were more than adequate for this track at 9.5/10 and I was running at least 10 seconds faster than the next guy in a track prepped 240Z.

I just ran there today for the first time in my track-prepared 944. There were 14 of us there, paying $128 each, for a full day of track time. No more than 5 per run session, so we ran three groups. About half of the drivers had been there before and there was only one other track car - a miata. There was an M3 and a vette, then a couple Z4s, a couple of street miatas, etc. I felt like I was the fastest one there, but I think I could be faster next time wi more experience and stickier tires. I was sliding like crazy by the end of the day on my used-up hoosiers. Fun track!!! I'm looking to go back again with these guys, mostly from the office. We could get a group from 6 speed, probably...
