New ride!
Hi all--
I've a new ride! Tragically, my '01 navy Boxster S left this life ignominiously when rear-ended while stopped at a light. But, in doing so she made the way for this beauty.
I was all over the place shopping. All I knew was that I needed (ok wanted) another convertible. Do I trade in my carpool S4 for an S5 cab or not? Four doors, or not? Could I stand an automatic? I spent some time ogling the S5 cab, the M3 cab, the TTS, a new Boxster, an SLK55, a used Vantage, the Elise, an S2000 etc. and finally (after what seemed like months, because it was months) "settled" on the 911.
After a nationwide search for a wide-hipped C4S with the right color and options, I found this one at a BMW dealership conveniently located 1700 miles from my house. Flew up there to inspect etc., thinking I would ship the car home. But I couldn't leave her there, and ended up driving her home from New Jersey to Texas, Cannonball-run style. It was a great time, especially with the K40 the prior owner had installed.
I didn't go looking for the sport chrono plus or the sport exhaust, but they are a hoot!
I've now had her two weeks, and (although these pics don't show it) personalized her a little with clear side markers, a Pioneer AVIC Z120BT radio/nav and amp, and valve cap stems.
The Pioneer killed the multi-function steering wheel controls, but it was a bit of a wimpy wheel anyway, so I've ordered a new, thicker wheel from DCT Motorsports, which should be ready shortly. I think a silver crest, and perhaps LEDs, are on their way in the near future...

+1 DCTM has some really nice wheels, and I'm thinking of switching mine too some day. Please post pics and let us know what you think when you get yours installed. Congratulations on your new car.

Thanks! It's an '07 that had 7800 miles on it when I bought it. It doesn't take much math to figure out that the guy that bought it new paid over $6/mile to drive it (probably more like $7/mile with insurance/gas/service). Of course, I promptly added 1700 miles driving it home.
Learned a lot about the car over 1700 miles. Especially at night in the mountains (Appalachians) on the interstate in driving rain amongst all the night truckers. I got home totally exhausted at 1:30 a.m. after a day and a half of constant driving. It was a mess after the drive, and I woke my neighbors up washing it at 2 a.m....
