Holy Molly! How much do you pay for an oil change?
#47
I have DIY oil changes on my cars in the past but recent ownership of BMW's have spoiled me that I got lazy and decided to have the Porsche dealer do the change. 09 C2 with 5800 miles but it is a year old so the service light came on. I also had some warranty work to be done so figure kill two birds with one stone. I paid $405... Is this excessive or is this normal for a Porsche?
What do you guys pay for an oil change?

Guess that takes me darn close to the $200 mark. (Did they itemize the bill for you, because honestly that is just wrong) You probably should make a return visit and ask them to explain the breakdown.

Thanks for all the links.
So the pan is big enough for the 10 liters without having to stop?
Do you just bring the pan and empty it out at the lube station?
Please enlighten me on the difference between the LN Filter mod vs the standard filter. I have a 09, from some of the quick reading, the filter has been relocated to an easier location already?

when i come to lube station i just give them pan and they return it back empty in 2 min.
not sure of 09 cars, LN has solution for that, I need this adapter as I track car often and plan to do it even more so probably will be doing 2-3 oil changes per season, so, adapter comes handy to simplify this process.

Also, do it yourself and eliminate the "shop fee" of 8% on the total bill. An needless expense that is a pure screwing added to an already "over the top" cost of a simple oil change...

Just paid $280.00
$280.00 for nothing more than an oil change.
"$117.00 - oil"
apparently they use liquid platinum. Dealers get Mobil 1 in drums, so I'm guessing their cost works out to @ $2/qt. x 8 quarts for the 997. Hmm, not sure how they got to $117.00
There's an incredible inde shop near me. They will be doing my brake flush next spring and next oil change.

Oil change just done at local Castrol place. LN filter adapter and magnetic drain plug kit ordered and received yesterday. Looks like the LN kit paid for itself on the first oil change. Kit was ~$170. Oil change with 7.5 qt of Castrol 5w40 Syntec $90.04 with a $5 dollar state inspection sticker that was due. Total $260. Helluva deal.

State of Mississippi requires an annual inspection sticker for all motor vehicles, its $5. Just checks to make sure the car is in working order and safe to drive on the road. But its MS.....they let a lot slide.
The LN KIT, is the LN Engineering filter adapter and magnetic drain plug. They offer it as a "kit" for a few bucks less than ordering them separately and they even through in a Napa Gold 1042 filter.

I've seen $89 as a courtesy price. Of course the dealer gets oil at bulk pricing, but $89 is not a routine price. Take it while they offer it to you.
