Holy Molly! How much do you pay for an oil change?

I have DIY oil changes on my cars in the past but recent ownership of BMW's have spoiled me that I got lazy and decided to have the Porsche dealer do the change. 09 C2 with 5800 miles but it is a year old so the service light came on. I also had some warranty work to be done so figure kill two birds with one stone. I paid $405... Is this excessive or is this normal for a Porsche?

What do you guys pay for an oil change?

$150. If I did it myself, I'd probably save $40 so not worth it.

Just dropped $189 at the dealer for oil change + ancillary pre-storage items. I haven't gone to a local independent, however I'm sure it would be a substantial savings.

I've been quoted $175, which is reasonable when you consider how much oil the car takes, and the price of a new filter. But, I intend to DIY when the time comes.

If you belong to the Rennlist, you can see a step-by-step DIY here:

Excess for an oil change but I suspect you got other things done while it was at the dealer that were not warranty related. If not, and all you got was an oil and filter change, you got hosed. But I suspect you've figured that out by now.

Way over priced, it is an easy DIY, the most amount of time is spent is waiting for the oil to drain out.

Nope, everything else was under warranty. I check the paper work closely. 1.5 hrs for oil change with 238.5 in labor!

Insult to injury, only 1 out of 4 warranty items were taken cared of with one part out of stock 2 cannot duplicate even though I was told over the phone they were fixed and a fourth where they troubleshoot a memory seat issue and ended up turning off my key memory so now it doesn't work. Pretty disappointing....

Buy the filter from Advance, etc. They have to order one for me but it is a MANN filter pkg under another name plus the rubber o-ring for half the price of a Dealer.

You can change your own oil for less $70 with less time involved going to the dealer and all that hassle.

Like I said I have done it before and don't mind doing it now. But don't you guys think it is just kind of nuts for them to charge like this? Do 9 of 10 Porsche drivers think this is reasonable and just pay? Leaving the rest of us 10% DIYers?

For $409, my indie did the 15k service: oil/filter change, cabin filter, fuel injector cleaner, AND a brake flush. I'd normally do my own oil change as well, but wanted to try out this new guy. Also with this service, I got a coupon for a free oil change, which will most like be at the end of next season. You might want to consider an indie....

$110 at my indie which based on the oil and filter does not pay for me to do.
