BAAAAAD News

Dealer calls me as I'm walking out the door to go pick it up. Says:

"Porsche forgot the install the $2800 sport exhaust option which you ordered. It's on the build manifest but they forgot it. We ordered the part and will weld it on when it gets here."

I don't think so. How screwed up is this?

I will not be accepting this car. I called Porsche North America and they said "Sorry - that's between you and your dealer - NOT PORSCHE - try another dealer next time you make an order if you choose to order again."

That is tragic and, I'm sure, wildly frustrating.

(But I suspect technically it is between you and your dealer.)

How is the problem between you and the dealer? Porsche built the car, not the dealer.

If it was on the build manifest, but porsche missed this item and did not equip the car with it, seems to me it is porsche's problem,

Although it could be worse. PSE can be retrofitted.

At this point who knows where the problem lays, but there have been other issues so...this one is a no-go.

No finger pointing by me, the situation just turned out bad and I'm not totally satisfied with the whole ordeal....obviously.

Could be worse - I have no illness and everyone in my family is healthy so whatever Float on...

Wow - that's a bummer - I think if they could add the PSE...very nice and unique car. Not the dealers' fault really either - sometimes figuring out where fault lies is not worth the hassle, as long as you get the car you wanted in the end.

Seems like the dealer would want to make this work for you rather than be holding a special order car...maybe a beer, , and a good night's sleep and it won't seem like such a big deal.

Good luck.

Yeah, too much hassle and stress to point blame. Not good for the head.

I don't think I will order from Porsche again. Between hearing folks with port delay woes incurred by new fractional VW ownership, and my issue, and the lack of interest by Porsche North America, I'm kind of burned out on the product. Oh well. Maybe this will wear off and I'll get one one day Not today, though.

I don't pretend to know much about this, but I suspect that no one that buys a car in America has any kind of agreement or contract to buy a car from Porsche AG or even PNA -- they have agreements to buy the car from the dealer, who, in turn, has a contract with Porsche. So, Porsche owes the dealer for the screwup (assuming the contract between those two says so), but your dealer owes you the car you ordered from the dealer.

Really like the alcantara wheel and center console, along with some of the special leather options.

Ouch ... Feel bad. May be you can talk yourself into a good discount from the dealer for the mess up and add an aftermarket exhaust like Gundo hack or Tubi. It is Porsche's fault though.

Tubi, Capristo, AWE, etc; heck yes, I'd do this over the Sport Exhaust.

That said, my confidence level in Porsche is not gaining any ground; in fact it's quite the opposite when I hear crap like this.

Sorry the hear this, bruddah.

So sorry Eric. What a disappointment. My car was also ordered with PSE, hoping my experience does not track yours (delay and then order screw up). Good luck with whatever your next car is.

I sort of agree with the last few posters. I would use the hiccups to push for a discount or other "free addons" and get the car and enjoy.

You have a good attitude which always helps.

With that said, is no one accepting the fact that their customer did not get what he paid for? What happened to that old saying?

The "he did it" attitude you are getting does bother me a bit.

Go whack a large bucket!

Just ask the dealer to make it right.
Give you something for the headaches.

Everyone makes mistakes, it's how they handle it afterwards that makes the difference.
