Just arrived at dealer - early pics

None of the mfrs I have ever dealt with really care about solving customer-dealer issues. 10 years ago Ford told me the same thing; we know how GM dealth with things over the years, MBUSA and BMW not much different. Yet they shove the dealers around saying 'take care of the customer, offer free loaners, build a new facility, etc. I'd just step back and breathe deep and realize it could have been worse. I'm sure the dealer doesn't want to lose the sale. Just negotiate it down to the point you pay for what you get and move on. Grand scheme of things, how important is sport exhaust to the whole ownership/driving experience anyway? Just trying to put it in perspective....

great idea. second it.

Adding the PSE exhaust is pretty darn easy and the dealer was handling it. I wouldnt bail on the car bc of that. I hope I am not out of line but sounds like you didnt really want this car to begin with and the PSE was just an easy out. I could be totally wrong but it does seem that way a smidge.

It IS a very easy install........especially for a dealer.
I worked on a buddies car here who added the PSE afterwards at his dealer.....and you couldn't tell, looked like factory!
Cheers,
Stacy

There were other screw ups in the ordering process I haven't listed here like the "dealer forgot to add Sport Chrono but is covering the retrofit procedure which made me happy enough. But this is the final straw that broke the camels back.
I spoke with 3 certified porsche technicians. I know enough about the PSE installation procedure that I could practically write a book about it. It involves 7 labor hours, minor carpet pullback, minor dashboard disassembly and wiring addition, and rear bumper removal.
Put yourself in my shoes. You just loaded up a 2011 Porsche C4S special order and the dealer is going to retrofit wiring and exhaust and sport chrono involving all the aforementioned details. Would you want to see your NEW 2011 $122,000 car being torn down? Or would you simply re-order?
Don't jump to conclusions. I've owned (custom order) two BMW M5's and a myriad of other cars. Never walked on a deal in my life.
(one more thing, you obviously haven't been reading all the other threads I've created including "My car will be at port 4 weeks wednesday" and "I call my dealer daily asking where she is!")

Why? Because I had a good attitude about it and didn't sound furious? You have no idea - my wife is livid about the situation. I happen to be a bit more even keel.

In defense of the guy you are writing to, I would just suggest that from what you have shared with us (shared being the operative word) we really have not much to go on other than this mistake. After you have explained yourself, it makes perfect sense, however, if it were me, I would have never been ok with a retrofit of the SC, thats rediculous. My advice, if this IS a car you really want, go to a different dealer, it seams this one is the one that has been making all the errors and is trying to put it on Porsche NA. Sadly, as it stands you are missing out on a really really great thing..............owning a Pcar

If it is that easy to walk away from a custom ordered 997, then probably should walk. Owning one of these cars requires a pretty healthy measure of desire - without that, you have a small, quirky, impractical car. You really need to want it, or it won't make any sense. And...seems like I have read that golf clubs and 911s aren't the best match.
There's no way most of us would have let the PSE snafu hold us up from getting our car. Must be more to the story...

Ditto Eric..ive had my 997.2 for a couple days and this car is UNBELIEVABLE do not deny yourself. If the Dealer wont take a discount off then walk to another Dealer. Dealers are different and have different Customer Loyalty. Find one that cares if they give you a discount like others have mentioned get a Tubi theres one on the Sponser Forum right now and saddle up to that BEAST just dont want you to not enjoy this amazingggggg car

You still game? C'mon man, you wouldn't want to walk away from YOUR PRECIOUS p-car based on a $3000 option?!?! Or would you? The dealer will shoehorn one in for you!! Their techs can do it - no problem! They can figure it out on the fly!
You guys sound like P-cars are some sort of magical thing - It's a car (albeit a great one) - a simple re-order fixes the problem. I don't have any attachment to this one - It isn't my child.
Ever had a dash taken apart? It introduces all sorts of new issues.
(and I own 3 cars - golf clubs are a non issue )

There's not more to the story. How about you ordered your car and they forgot Navigation (that IS an option on your car according to your signature)- so when you walked into the dealership with your cashiers check the car wasn't the way you ordered it?
