I have had several bits added to my car that required who knows what dis-assembly - voice control, MF wheel - some bits I did myself too like the e-brake and the shifter trim and shifter - not trivial - and I'll probably upgrade the center console to leather or painted as well and install that myself too since I have been into it once, second time should not be as bad.

And no, I didn't know about any of the other issues (SC?, long wait for car, more?, etc)- the PSE thing didn't seem like a big deal since many owners add that later and without issue.

But now that I hear more of this - the SC thing, which I'm still not sure I understand after re-reading the above, I reckon you start to get a bad feeling about the whole thing and if the dealer cannot mitigate that and maintain, restore, increase your confidence and satisfaction, then I get it. If your gut is saying the deal is funky, you gotta go with that. Bummer.

Would I have walked - not sure - it is not about a 911 being magical nor precious - but more about being pragmatic and getting the outcome I want: finding a car the way I want it, or ordering one, can be time consuming. If I really had bad feelings (like the car was not going to be right), then I'd walk, but otherwise I'd want the dealer to make it right for me so I could have my car and be done with it. Even NAV - if everything else was the car I wanted and the dealer could add NAV at the factory price to make my dream car, then yes, I would be fine with that. As you say, its a car - dealers work on them all the time - even replacing bad PCM units.

I'd even have the rear wiper added if I thought it could be done - very cool look and practical as well. Hmmm...

But if a re-order is that simple, along with another potentially aggravating wait to get the car, OK then.

Sorry to hear about the problems, EricP. I can relate to this. A few years ago, I ordered a BMW 650i from factory. The car arrived 2 months later and while prep'ing the car for delivery, the detailing guy put a deep scratch on the windshield. I told the dealer to order another for me. He offered to replace the windshield the next day and knock $3K off the purchase price. I came back the next morning and the windshield had already been replaced. I drove off the lot with a big grin. No problems (leaks, wind noises, etc.) whatsoever.

My point is that some dealers will be willing to work out some deals to make up for their mistakes (even if it's not theirs). It is up to you to take up their offers, have them order another one, or walk. You should be happy with your new car purchase. If you're having second thoughts, I'd say WALK. Order from another dealer.

I think this dealer is blowing smoke.

Hard to believe that he just forgot to order a major option like SC AND the factory forgot to install a major option like PSE.

Although I agree with the guys who say this could be added later and you probably couldn't tell, I have to say I probably would have walked too.

Just out of principal.

For $122K they better get it right the first time and rub your feet while they are at it.

For the PSE, I would not have walked off, for the SC, you betcha I would too. But the OP did not mention the SC on his first post.

OK Guys - Looks like the dealer and I have hammered out a deal which suits both parties. For the record PORSCHE FACTORY screwed up the order and the PSE (sport exhaust) was left off the car, but indeed appears on the build list/window sticker/manifesto. Wild.

I won't go into specifics of the deal here but suffice it to say that the dealership was "stand up" and offered to refund my deposit should I choose to re-order the car elsewhere. They will be adding the Porsche factory Sport/chrono updater as well as the PSE. I will post their name once I have signed the papers and everything is a done deal.

In the interim here are more pics of the car.

New c4s w/o Chrono

I just finished reading the earlier / sad / posts. Hope the deal holds or Get to another dealer; these cars are just superior in all (other) respects.

What did the dealer added version of the Chrono cost ?

2011 C4S 6 speed Basalt/Black full leather, NO SPORT CHRONO

Was your new C4s delivered ?

Eric: so after all your frustration are you an Owner ? Break-in underway ? Waiting for a light Col. snow to swing the tail out ? Got the snowtires on the way ?

If I may : what was your final cost ? and how long was the order to delivery time ? PM me if that's better.

BTW : i can't stop smiling about my 4s.

Congrats - beautiful car. Unfortunate you had to go through all the issues you've listed. If it's any consolation, the dealer could have installed PSE before you took delivery to "fix" the factory FU and you wouldn't have know about all the retrofit work that accompanies the install. Enjoy the car!!
