Getting Factory Sat Radio in 997.2..the ugly way

Well gents..if you saw my post "Detailer at Dealer scratched my PCM screen" then you know that the only way to fix this is to replace the entire PCM. The new PCM is $0 to me and I asked if I could spend a few bucks and upgrade the new PCM module to include Sat Radio and the answer today was yes. Cost of all related materials (module, cables, antenna, plus install labor and paint match antenna) is $100 more than the retrofit kit from Suncoast for the 997.1

I'm going to do it for a couple of reasons:

1 - I have Sat Radio in my other vehicles and I love it.
2 - This is about the only way to get integrated Sat Radio into a 997.2 that did not have it originally.
3 - I am impressed with the professionalism and lack of drama during this bad experience with the detailer at the dealership.
4 - Because I got great customer service, I am comfortable giving them more business for something I want and would not have gotten otherwise.
5 - I believe in Karma.

Parts ordered from Germany, one week to get here, then a few hours for install. Hope to give you all a positive report late next week.

For the module, related materials, painting antenna and installing cables total is $870 which is $100 more than the 997.1 retrofit kit which I think you then would have to pay for install as well. A new PCM with Nav module and no Sat, plus install labor has got to be up in the $3500 range. I believe they gave me a break on cost of material..again the service manager took a bad experience and made it right...making me feel good about spending the extra dough with them.

What a hassle, but congratulations as it sounds as though things worked out in the end.

Believing in Karma is a good thing, IMHO.

I don't know anything about sat radio as i ipod my music selection and opt out of radio but i knew that things would work out well for you .

The local dealership has been like a family to me . In fact over the years and multiple Porsches I feel like we grew up together .

good luck with your new gear.

I just paid around $800 to $900 for the Nav tv sirius unit (works like factory with PCM) and did the install myself ... Yes it's simple but a real PIA and time consuming ...

You are getting this same deal without the hassle of paying an installer or doing it yourself ... I'd switch places in a heartbeat ... heck I would pay another $250 on top of that if I knew it was the dealer doing it.

Plus also keep in mind the price you see online for Suncoast doesn't include shipping ...

Overall sounds like you did great !!! Enjoy !!!
