Put the question to Michelin. Will post answer here and on our site when we hear back.

Anyone have other questions we can try and get answered for you?

@Ed,

As you know, I don't have a trailer. Hoosier is out for me.
kumho v710 then.
or, a usual suspect - toyo r888...

as soon as my kumhos v700 will be gone i will have some fun running r888 255 fronts with ra1 335 rears. will see how it will feel like as I can always get a set of 245 ra1 for fronts. some folks say r888 and ra1 compounds are pretty much alike. 255/335 is kinda an optimal sizing for 9"/12" rims but I run 265/335 now and like it a lot - grip is perfect.

Can they ball park a figure? I am looking at getting V-308s for the Spring and I would love to go with these over the PS2s if they are available and the price is within strikingn distance of the PS2s.

Thanks!

According to the Michelin Press Kit for the Super Sport, the tire will be released in the following sizes:
18"-225/45, 245/45, 245/40, 265/40
19"-225/40, 225/35, 235/35, 245/35, 255/35, 265/30, 275/35, 275/30, 295/30, 305/30
There are also sizes in 20, 21 and 22 inches.
I located the full press kit via the following link: http://www.michelin.com/corporate/news/products

Sorry to come into this thread and pee on everyone's cornflakes but I'm not very excited to learn about a new tire that is going to cost more than the already pricey PS2's. I don't track the car and the current PS2's already offer more performance for street driving than I'll ever need.

I would also guess (and I hope I'm wrong) that the new tire will be even more shaved than the current PS2's which means the potential for an easier blowout and faster wear.

So this means when I need replacement tires I'll have to shell out even more cash for features that I'll never use on a tire that won't last as long.

Yes, lots to love about this - NOT!

Hmmm. Sounds like someone's having a bad day. I didn't read any of that.

The PS2 replacement uses new technology, including notably a new synthetic carcass material that allows better temperature control and a more stable footprint under cornering. The result is better grip, but also better mileage than the PS2. Both are reasonable outcomes of the described changes.

The review at Road & Track concludes:
Look for the Super Sport to show up on new cars in early 2011 as standard equipment. It will be available for sale in April, priced close to the outgoing Pilot Sport 2 tire.
I'm just hoping my current set of PS2's lasts until they are generally available.

Gary
