Retrofit 2010 Paddle Steering wheel on 2009 PDX 911s

Any member try this yet? or got price for the retro fit to the 2010 dual PDK shift paddles steering wheel?

Looking at picking up a 2009 PDX 911s and is thinking about the retrofit, other then the Champion Motorsport version.

Tks

I did it on my 09 Cayman S and like it much better than the buttons.

I see this is an older topic but not many answers. Has anyone retro fitted a OEM 911 wheel with paddles to a 2009 PDK with the buttons? What is the cost?

Speedtrap is infamous around these parts
I got mine fitted to a 59 Reg 911 C4S and it worked really well. Took the car to the ring and it worked like a dream. I have since sold the car and have taken the paddle shift off

I've done the same, was an easy process. Bought the wheel online and the removal (after poking two holes through the leather*) was straightforward. Have to be very cautious when routing the airbag cable when inserting the airbag back into the new wheel - it can bind and then cause the horn to not fire or stick (was a fun project, sure the neighbors approved)...

Been very happy with the switch, would not go back.

I've done it on two cars. It's about 1/2 hour labor plus the cost of the wheel.

+1 on the horn issue. Fortunately mine was in the garage with the door down.

Thank you for the great info. Just curious, what is the cost of a new wheel with paddles?

Porsche has traditionally felt that a thinner steering wheel translates into a more nimble feel to the car. But the problem is that I actually like to grasp a thicker steering wheel. As useful as the push buttons are on the stock set up for the '09s, I am sure I would love the tactile feel of the alloy paddles. Quick question: Is the wheel itself slightly thicker than the standard one ? The flares at the 10 and 2 position appear to be slightly more pronounced on the suncoast picture.

If you want me to charge you more for it I can make that happen!

I wouldn't mind putting a little cash into my "Own a Porsche somdeday" fund.

I think the wheel is the same diameter except the 10 and 2 positions. There is a slight bump to help with grip. If you were looking for more grip we also carry the Alcantara paddle wheel found here:
