08 cayenne w/phone module..help!!

I posted this on the 997 site since we get more action here than on the Cayenne site. Since it is the same PCM system, I'll pick your brains here first

My 08 Cayenne S which I recently picked up has the phone module installed. When I insert the SIM card from my iPhone to test it, it starts to load the phonebook and searches for network but no go. It works fine in the iPhone 4 and I know FOR SURE that it does have the phone for PCM installed ($960 option on the window sticker which came with car) (AT&T SIM card)

Any ideas? Shouldn't it just work or do I have to go to the dealership for activation bull***t? Currently I'm using the Motorola Roadster Bluetooth visor from my Carrera in the meantime

ecostellodo is infamous around these parts
My 06 997 with the phone module only works a TMobile SIM card. I had tried the ATT SIM but no go. The car has a tri band receiver and does not use the frequency that ATT uses where I live.

I bought a pay as you go TMo card and I forward my phone to the car.

I thought the PCM phone took a "regular' size SIM card and that the iPhone 4 was a "mini" SIM card. Do you have another SIM card (wife?) to use? Or I could be confused with the SIM card in the 3G iPad. Let us know what you find out.

You are correct. The SIM card needed for the car is a regular sized one. The iphone 4 uses the new mini sim card.

The car telephone uses the frequencies 900, 1800, 1900. Where I live AT&T uses the 850 band. So the phone won't work with the AT&T SIM card.

Thanks for confirming my memory...and thanks for the info on AT&T. I was just going to buy a PP SIM card for the car from them now I'll look to the other service providers.

iPhone 4 indeed is a microSIM card. I may just go the Tmobile PP route...or stick with the Motorola Roadster bluetooth on the visor option. I'll let everyone know how it goes
