+1

V1 and a rabbit! I am always happiest when I am the second fastest car on the road!

And no, do not hardwire it. Unless, you want your car burglarized when you park it. VR recommends hiding completely the detector and wires when the car is parked unattended.

Hardwiring usually means supplying power to the detector by more elegant means than the cigarette lighter adapter, but the plug into the unit is still the same and it can be just as easily removed from the mount as with a cig lighter adapter.

Most makers sell what you need to do this, or it can be done custom - not hard to do though.

V1. No question. Sometimes it goes off and I drive another mile or so before I can even see the leo.

I hate to sound petty but I ordered a Valentine 1 a couple years ago. It's the crappiest built and cheezy looking unit I couldn't bear it on my dash (I don't need one all the time so I would only set it up for those needed times.)

...I eventually gave it to a buddy. It looks like a garage door opener from 1988. Blocky and cheezy. That rear detection plastic cover was chincy and loose... and the thin plastic with LED's numerals was thin (you could poke thru it with your finger if you pressed) and cemented on with sticky adhesive.

Just poor quality. I drive a $125,000 car. Why put crap on the window with suction cups in the elegant design age of the iPhone 4!?

Sorry, I was so surprised with the bad build quality I still vent whenever anyone will listen.

I didn't see a "mini" mount option for the non adjustable model so I got the adjustable super z mini for my 2007 c2s auto dimming mirror. it fits snugly and works but I feel like a better solution for radar mounting can be made for my model. It works perfectly fine. I live in CA where extra fines are given to windshield suction cup mounts so this works great.

Has anyone seen/used the new Passport iQ. A combo radar/NAV?

I like the concept, since I do not have a NAV. And in my other car, I do not have blue-tooth hands free - the iQ will have that option also.

I could not agree more V1 is kind of ridiculas looking you spent that mony on the car now spend the mony on the radar. I have had several concealed radars including my latest, the K40 radar detector RL360. truely an imppressive radar detector. plus they offer a rear reciever to give you front and rear detection. I have seen this thing in action before buying it and I would reccomend you doing the same which ever radar you buy.

i also have the 9500CI installed.

the V1 works great, i m sure.. but i did not wanna hassle with attaching the detector everytime i get in my car..
leaving it in plain sight only attracts vandals and theives..
plus, it looks fugly hanging on ur windshield, rearview mirror, or visor.

I use the Valentine 1. Somewhere in the garage there's a 9500ix.

I have a V1, but honestly, I get so many false alarms that I've found it almost useless. AND I've found that by the time I look to see what kind of signal I'm picking up, if it is real, I can see the cop. In CA, I cruise at 9 mph over the limit for the most part and don't worry about it. I've basically stopped using the V1. I basically want it to tell me when there's a police threat and keep quiet the rest of the time. For me, the annoyance of chronic false alarms (yes, I have it in Logic mode) makes it unusable. I hear the best Escorts are much better at filtering out false alarms, but have comparable sensitivity for Ka bands.
