2006 C2S: Help with Assessing Fair Price
#16
FWIW, without seeing the car I'd think the 47-51 range would be appropriate for those miles/options.

Strickly a supply and demand issue. If the car is the color you want and is optioned the way you want it, you're options are to find another one just like it in better shape and at a better price with lower mileage that's for sale now or buy this one warts and all. Otherwise, you run the risk of this one being sold and the price being higher on the next one you find. All the price help you're getting here doesn't mean much to you unless you're willing to change your requirements and to wait for your car.

I bought an 05 six months ago +/- from private party. I know the pricing in Southern Cal. I'd offer $45k - $47k. Make offer contingent on PPI inspection. Take it to Hergesheimer in Lake Forest for a PPI. There are a few other well respected Porsche Indys a bit north. You can do a search on this site and you will find them. How are the tires? Keep in mind a set of tires will set you back $1400 - $2100. $800 if you want to use the ever so popular Hankooks. There is your leverage for price negotiatins. Good Luck. If you care about warrany, then third party will run you about $4K extra depending on coverage.
The dealer would offer high 30s, low 40s for this car and resell at around 49K - $55K

I agree with Dadio, it's supply and demand. There's X amount of cars out there for sale and the better colors/options/miles will always command a premium over the rest. It all comes down to what you are specifically looking for and what you're willing to pay. If the color/options fit your criteria, compare to what else is on the market and pay accordingly.
That's the fun part about shopping for these cars, the individuality. While they certainly produced a lot of them, the options/specs vary significantly. Finding your "gem" is half the fun.
Believe me, it feels much worse to lose a perfect car haggling over $1k than to get a good deal on something you're not 100% happy with. If this particular car sells, when will your next chance be to buy one just like it?

seller and I agreed on a price tonight (btwn 47-49k). it was a bit more than the 45k I wanted to pay, but i'm happy to finally get into a black/black C2S with all the options I wanted.
Now I'll have to find a place in SoCal to remove the clearbra (I'm not a fan of them), and somehow trade in the lobster forks for the wheels I really wanted (painted Carrera Sport wheels).
Will post some pics by this weekend after I take delivery
