Installed Options

I remember seeing a post, which detailed how to find out what the installed options are on a 997. I cannot find it. Is there a tag in the trunk with this data on it?

I'm looking at purchasing an 08 911S Cab. $60,000 with 21K miles on it.

Many thanks!

For what it's worth I ended up sending my vin # into both sites. Suncoast came back more complete and with more options listed then AutoAtlanta. AutoAtlanta kept my '73 914 running through out the '80s & 90's. My hats off to them.

Same here, sent to both.

Mine came back with the same options though. I admittedly didn't look over every little option code because some of them were seemingly standard equipment. (OBD 2 and air con, Yes!) But the REAL options ended up being the same.

As I continue my search for a used 997 I came across two different steering wheels. The one with the buttons I presume is the multi-function steering wheel (controls radio and phone). Any preferences with or without the buttons? It looks busy to me, the two cars I have driven were without the buttons. I believe that the circular center wheel is the sport whereas the triangular center is standard. Thanks.

I really like my multifunction wheel (lower pic in your post). I too thought it would be silly in such a small car, but the more I use it the more I am glad it is there.

The up/down volume wheel on the left also has a mute function. Quite handy since finding the mute feature in the PCM can be tough when driving down the highway.

When muted the car still allows the phone to work normally as well as the nav.

good luck

Personally I like the fat grips at 10 and 2 on the sport wheel, plus I think the circular center looks 'cleaner' than the big triangle.

I have my right hand resting on the shifter so its a few inches to reach the volume ****. My beater has the volume controls on the wheel, and I do catch myself trying to press stuff with my thumbs .

I prefer the sport steering wheel with the fat grips, but I didn't let that determine which car I bought. The steering wheel can be replaced/changed as well as the multifunction setup, so don't let that determine your purchase. I ended up buying a car with the standard wheel, and I haven't missed the sport wheel at all like I thought I would.

If you have had or currently have the multifunction buttons in another car, it may take a few days to get used to them not being there, but if you've never had it, you'll never miss it.

I believe the standard wheel on 997.1 is the one with the triangular airbag - an option available on this steering wheel is the MF controls. If you want the thicker sport steering wheel with the round airbag look for option code XPA.
