Techart springs here. 15mm drop. I'm sure you can go much, much lower but that's not my cup of tea.

After a year, no issues whatsoever. Very happy.

Looks great JoeShark, love the stance/ride height! Do you have PASM? How's the difference in ride quality in normal vs PASM with the Techarts?

I do have PASM. With PASM the drop is 15mm. Cars without PASM, the TechArt drop will be 25mm. Ride quality in normal vs. PASM is just the slightest bit stiffer with the TechArt springs compared to stock. Not jarring or bone shattering one bit. All in all, I'm very happy with the springs. I don't track the car so decided I didn't need to go coil overs (but others may disagree). I was just looking to reduce the huge gap in the wheel wells a bit but didn't want to mess to much with the stock suspension and feel or the original handling. I would say I got exactly what I was looking for.

Joe -- I liked the Techart springs a lot. In fact if I chose springs those would be the ones to get. The ride height and comfort are terrific .

Comparing it to the coil overs --both are great so it's really a matter of splitting hairs with opinion.

Since yours already were on the car you got a great deal.

With the owner who starts from scratch with stock .. a nice chunk of the price goes to labor . It takes about 6 hours or so to do the upgrade plus alignment so the difference in price for the parts is still there but it's not too dramatic given the other expenses ,
Also keep in mind that the Techart springs cost a bit more than others but i just think the quality is amazing .

In fact I did consider trhe Techart coil overs (Techart does make them ) but since I was doing so many other upgrades simultaneously and i had read so much postive on the Bilstens at that time .. i figured that it be a good choice .

Larry,

Great points. I know it's been awhile since I got my car and I wouldn't expect you to remember since it was awhile ago, but my car actually didn't come with the springs. The ride height was stock when I got my car and I chose the TechArt springs after long deliberation and research. Lots of reasons to go the C/O route and other reasons to go springs. I just chose springs and decided to go with one of the best.

Hope all is well in your sunny part of the world.

Take care,

Joe

not at all. I was just starting to research the same topic and your pics and detailed replies really helped. Thanks . Once you installed the coil overs what other adjustments are necessary.

Thanks guys .Appreciated.

Lockie -On my Turbo I did spend a lot of time reading and asking questions because a lot of guys had been very disappointed with the stock suspension on the 997.1tt . It was very comfortable but almost seamed floaty like a luxury car . There were a lot of opinions shared in that forum but some of the fine points were also shared by the team of technicians who worked on my car .
I was concerned that with the front lip on the Turbo being so low to the ground that clearance would be an issue going over a curb or speed bump . To make matters harder the Techart spoiler is expensive and its painted so if it does scrape it's not the plastic that the stock cars have. There was also a lot of discussion about alignment spec . For intance on the Turbo forum one member liked the Gt3 spec for track use and others debated it . There was also the idea of installing sway bars and whether the Gt2 rear bar alone was ideal or would a more rigid setup be needed. Also as i upped the Hp .. we tabled each revision .

With the 997S it was more simple . Coil overs and alignment .
We weren't making the dramatic changes to the car with just an exhaust and software .

I appreciate all the info and will be going with the Eibach Springs for now. Been working long hours and no time to turn on computer. Thanks again.

I´ve been driving my 997.2 S with sport mode on, and the ride is really stiff for a DD.

i recently lowered my car with Eibach.

i feel like the car is riding softer now.. a lil too soft at times.
in normal suspension, its almost like riding a lexus.. or at least a toyota..lol

i rarely drove with the sport suspension mode on due to the rough roads in LA.. but now no problem.

i am unsure if thats due to the eibach springs or lighter rims i got..

Based on feedback from JoeShark and others, I chose, and just had installed, the TechArt springs on my PASM-equipped '06S. I think they're great. Normal mode feels only slightly stiffer than stock and has an improved visual stance (~15mm drop). In Sport mode, I can't really tell much of a difference between stock springs and the TechArts (it's still a pretty stiff ride but doesn't seem to be any harsher). Unless you're looking for more of a drop and the potential for a harsher ride (or want to go the more expensive coilover route) I would highly recommend the TechArts. Will try to get a couple before/after pics posted.

Great to hear and nice report. Sounds a lot like what I feel in my car. In my opinion, it's the perfect drop in all aspects (ride, feel, and look).

Congrats on the mod.
