997 Lowering Springs...Need advice
I have a 2007 Carrera (Non-S) and am looking to lower it using springs, but am looking for the lowest drop possible. What have other members used and please post pics if possible. Techart, Eibach, Champion, H&R? Thanks.

I lowered my base 997 with Eibach lowering springs. Lowered one inch. At this new height, I have to be very very careful driving into driveways and any other dips in the road!!! It really is a pain to hve to constantly adjust your driving over dips / driveways etc. I would
not lower greater than one inch. BTW, the ride feels stock, not harsh, due to Eibach's progressive type springs.

only ones somebody wrote bad things aboute were H&R - like they can collapse with time and let car go even lower. i am not sure what is the point to do it for a street car, if you have to choose - do Eibach, they make good springs.

I´ve been driving my 997.2 S with sport mode on, and the ride is really stiff for a DD.

What are you looking for with the "lowest drop possible"? Are you saying you just want the car slammed for looks, with no regard for performance?

I would like a good balance to have the car sit at the owest point possible without having to lose performance. I appreciate everyone's input. looks like Eibach is the way to go. Thanks.

ultra if you really want good handling performance and a lowered car, skip the springs and go with some good coilovers and you can adjust ride height and actually corner balance the car and tune the shocks to the springs and the roads or track you drive on.
Honestly your stock shocks and stock springs are a tuned package.....add lowering after market springs and things change and may not work that well together.

Why not insist on the safest and best performing quality parts ?
why not insist on an installer who truly is qualified, has experience. has certification , and who can show you his work ?
Just an FYI -- upgrading a suspension is common but it's not easy or inexpensive (if done correctly ).
Keep in mind that the least expensive thing to do is to leave the car stock and at least it is factory set for safety .
The same can be said about the audio equipment (I read the other thread but will reply here ) -- I don't know anything about stereo upgrades other than the good ones discussed on the forum are expensive

Here is my 997S which i have been pleased with lowered on Bilstein coil overs .

And the Turbo . M3 is stock BTW . I had the ride height of the Turbo a bit higher so as not to scrape the Techart front Turbo spoiler which is quite low.

How would you describe the ride quality of the Techart springs? Harsher/firmer than stock? Looks like you have PASM. Were the Techarts comparable to having PASM engaged in terms of ride?
Thanks

Comparing the Techart springs to the Bilsteins.. I feel the ride is actually more comfortable on the coil overs . The pss10 is quite good for a street setup comfort . When it comes to cornering I also feel that the coil overs absorb the weight of the car providing great blanace. The springs were certainly better than stock but I notice more strain is placed on the tires with the springs than the coil overs .
On my 997S I went fron stock to coil overs . Stock was very comfortable and the Bilsteins are significantly more firm but the was the car feels planted in the apex of of an S curve is greatly improved. It really is a performance upgrade.

This is very helpful, thanks again. I've been considering upgrading to either the Techarts or Damptronics, expecting 95% street driving in the northeast. Looking to drop the car a bit, improve handling a bit, but don't want to lose much in the way of ride comfort. Cost aside, sound like from this and other threads Damptronics have a higher probability of helping to meet my goals
The Techart springs were excellent . I swapped them after reading post after post about coil overs so i decided to find out . Keep in mind taht my comparison is on the Turbo which is a heavier AWD car. On my 997S I only had stock and then coil overs.
