He'll appreciate the props when you get the customer service email. Be sure to mention him by name in your comments section

...on the tip thing, I don't but I'd remember him during the holidays with some bubbly or a gift card

Ok, that is wrong in so many ways (not your account, but the events and what the dealer is claiming):

1) The alarm system is supposed to shut off after some limited amount of time, running for 10+ minutes non-stop is a design that violates codes I think.

2) The car SHOULD NOT start if the alarm is going off... thats the point of the interlock.

So the only way I can reconcile this with the dealers statement is that the latch must have some-how, mechanically, shorted out wires that feed to the horn, so the latch was providing non-stop power to the horn. Were the headlights flashing as well?

I'd think the headlights flashing and the horn beeping (honk, honk, honk) vs just the horn blaring as one consecutive sound (hoooooooooo...) would indicate the alarm system was triggered. And if the alarm is triggered, it should shut up after some time and not allow the car to start (and disable with the key).

I say this because I had an issue with a VW Beetle rear hatch latch where water got in and shorted the switch to the hatch so the computer thought, in the middle of the night, the hatch had been opened and so it started blaring the alarm. But I was able to use the remote and key to turn the alarm off.
