How good is YOUR dealer?

I have often wondered if I am getting the best deal possible? Also does my local dealer have access to the same allotment of 'rarer' cars eg GTS, GT2RS the way other dealers do? Is there any way to track which dealers have the highest volume and best inventory seection other than talking to sales people who are always convinced they are the best? Any insight would be appreciated.

I reckon Premier Porsche dealers may have an edge - hard to say here since both are - and mine is excellent.

I think you can get a sense of % off msrp discounts on these forums, so that info should get you in the 'ballpark'. Seems with this info, you can shop elsewhere if your dealer doesn't meet that price. Inventory selection? Order your car and this goes away and you get the options that you want.

You defiantly want a dealer who is going to be in business a few years down the road.

I might place more weight on the service portion of the local dealer. Unless you are going to be buying a new car every year, you are going to be seeing the back of the building more than the front. I live near New Orleans. We lost our dealership a few years back. It has since returned in a Infinity dealership. So my dilemma is the service technicians. Are these guys Porsche guys, or are they Infinity guys who went to a few hours of Porsche training? Luckily my car is nearly out of warranty, so my service work will be going to local independents who specialize in higher end cars.

Agree to all of the above. These forums are the best general source of info. I live a couple of hundred miles from several dealers one of which is 'premier'. I wonder if this has to do with volume or service? As far as just going in and ordering the car you want, obviously this is not possible, as there are allotments and slots available and few slots for the higher demand cars. I started thread this because I had called my closest dealer, the people who I know and really like, about the GTS and was told something like 'oh we are not getting any of these cars'
