08 C2S or 08 GTR

A GTR will tear apart a C2S in terms of raw speed but the C2S has the GTR beat in every other category (class, luxury, reliability, etc).
IMO they're just too different to compare. The GTR was never even on my short list of cars (and probably never will be). Since it's on yours OP, It sounds like raw speed is important to you so I say go for the GTR?

For me it boils down to brute performance vs style and image

<I went through the same debate recently. I also have a 2 year old and decided to move from a 2 seater (S2000) to a 4 seater.>
P's Pcar, you may not believe this, but I too went from an S2000 to a 997.1S. And, I owned a Datsun 240Z (orange of course). I was biased toward the GTR, until I drove both cars back to back. IMO, the Porsche wins easily as an everyday driver.
BTW, my 2005 S2000 is in perfect condition and is still for sale, 17500.00, Silverstone, 36000 miles. PM me if anyone is interested. Sorry for the plug, but it seemed appropriate.

Come to a Porsche forum and there's little surprise what answer you'll get. I can say that my 5-year old and 7-year old fit in my '06 C2S Cab, but not with a lot of room. They too prefer to go with me over my daily driver.
I'm partial to Porsche over the GTR, but that's not saying when the kids get older I won't switch.

It handles better than any street car I've ever driven (that included a 997 GT2 and 997.1 GT3), brakes superbly, and has outstanding ergonomics and technology.
A professional Porsche driver (who happened to have won the Rolex 24 hours at Daytona in a Porsche) has spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a GT-R on a road course. He told me that it would take "at least" $10k worth of suspension modifications on a 997TT to make it handle as well as a stock GT-R.
Hate it all you want, the fact is it's a very impressive car.

My GT-R had a total of two modifications: cat-back and tune. That's it. None of my other cars were nearly as quick with so few modifications as my GT-R was. On the other hand, my new GT-R (once the build is complete) will be faster than anything I've ever owned.

Also, I think a lot of people dont like it because it is a Nissan. A 90k car from a company that makes 30k cars. So there is little soul that people see in it. Nissan also has not had the best track record for quality long standing cars. Sure they have some hot ones and they are much better than they used to be but I dont think I have ever once thought about owning a Nissan. This is kinda the reason a lot of people dont like the idea and price tag for the LFA.
Personally if the price was right I would love to have a GTR.

That is what I figured you were going to say.

Easiest decision ever.. If u're spending this kind of money.. stop worry about corning speed, raw power, bla bla bal.. unless you are buying it for the track, if then I wouldn't buy either one, buy a Lotus... When you drive a Porsche, it makes you giggle inside .. You'll find yourself taking the long way home each day.. waking up early to go for morning cruises .. It's definitely a stress reliever.. A GTR, great car IMO but still it doesn't do it for me.. it is just too technical.. something about a Porsche that gives you a sense of belong .... Do it ! You'll feel 10 years younger in a Porsche

Gtr's first year was 09 .
There were some transmission issues and if yours breaks add $20K to that used car.
It's an amazing car .. but you must opt for a 2010 and with Nissan's stringent warranty you must seek dealership approval of that car. Leave it stock too.
Lastly -- a lot of nice folks drive Nissan BUT a lot of thugs drive them too . I don't know why but the brand seems to attract them . If you feel confortable pulling into the service drive ina GTR ... good luck.
As for the car itself ..
Gtr will run a 997S
Porsche is better made and will outlast the Gtr .

What constitutes a THUG? Not sure I understand.. What happens if you break a Porsche trans? I'd probably feel confortable pulling into the service bay ina GTR

Its interesting how heated the debates can get with this topic.
Guess I am weak in the noggin's to get both... The GTR offers more speed with less fuss while the GT3 simply provides more enjoyment in its execution and RAW involvement of the driver.
With the 3, I enjoy the vibrations, the notchy gear changes, the feel as you wind the engine up and execute the next turn with the perfect RPM and apex. It is simply more involving to drive a 3, bar none.
Funny thing tho... I encounter more people excited about seeing the GTR than I do with the 3. My kids did not believe me at first until they witnessed the enthusiasm first hand almost weekly. It must be the "People or Affordable Brand ~ aka Nissan" factor.
Maybe I should start a fund and charge people a dollar just to ask me "WHAAAT KIND OF CAR IS IT?"
