08 C2S or 08 GTR

I am considering replacing my 2 seat daily driver with a 4 seater.
Both cars are about the same price and each have it's strong points.
The GTR is super quick from 0-100, pretty comfortable, decent interior, interesting electronics, but with a questionable exterior and it still is a Nissan
The 2S is fun to drive, has great ergonomics, Porsche quality, but lacks in the power department and a little more tricky to drive fast.

What are your guys unbiased opinions?

My unbiased opinion is that neither one of those choices is really a 4 seat car. Especially the Porsche.

haha... a two year old with no legs.

In all seriousness, I like the GTR and I have mad respect for Japanese sports cars. For the most part the Nissan is bullet proof (initial launch control issues aside). I actually like the way the GTR looks as well. And between the two, it has a real back seat.

The Porsche is a much more grown up car and the connection from machine to driver is much more pure. For my money, I obviously chose the Porsche, and I would probably do it again.

I know the child seat fits in the back seat of the GTR.
You feel more connected in the Porsche, but the brute power of the GTR is addicting.
Driving a Porsche has more prestige while the GTR still has the Nissan stigma

Gtr's first year was 09 .
There were some transmission issues and if yours breaks add $20K to that used car.

It's an amazing car .. but you must opt for a 2010 and with Nissan's stringent warranty you must seek dealership approval of that car. Leave it stock too.

Lastly -- a lot of nice folks drive Nissan BUT a lot of thugs drive them too . I don't know why but the brand seems to attract them . If you feel confortable pulling into the service drive ina GTR ... good luck.

As for the car itself ..
Gtr will run a 997S
Porsche is better made and will outlast the Gtr .

Get the Porsche

The GTR is fast, silly fast in fact but its not fun to drive. The car has no soul. Btw I have a two and a half year old and he fits just fine in the back of the 911, and in a serious pinch I have ridden in the back of a friends 911 LOL.

On this forum my guess is most will tell you to go with the 911...myself included...as far as seating....though cramped, I can fit my whole me, wife, 12 year old and 9 year old. My kids never want to go with me anywhere when I drive my benz, but when I drive the 911 they always come. That says alot...its more important to have fun then comfort

One can't go wrong with pcar, I have 2yrs old who just loves riding with me in the "back" seat of my pcar. I've never been in GTR but I can sacrifice comfort and regular back seat for more fun pcar.

The C2S has almost no back seat, and I put a roll bar in mine, and removed the rear seats. The GTR is big, fast and ugly IMO. I love my C2S, and I don't find it a challenging car to drive, it is different, and when you get the hang of it, it is a lot of fun to drive. As for lacking in the power department, compared to a GTR yes, but it isn't how much power you have, it is how it is used.

Last month, I test drove a GTR and a 997.1, back to back, at the same dealership. Before the test drive I was leaning toward the GTR. As was stated previously the GTR is really fast, and uniquely nice looking. The deciding factor for me was "everyday drivability". The 997.1 has it, the GTR I test drove did not. The transmission was very jerky, even on comfort mode it would rev up from a stop light, then drop the clutch, cannot imagine driving in stop and go traffic. I purchased a 997.1, manual trans, and can make it drive like a family car or a screaming sports car, whatever my heart desires.

I went through the same debate recently. I also have a 2 year old and decided to move from a 2 seater (S2000) to a 4 seater.
If you were to remain completely unbiased, you'd probably go for the GTR. But I suspect you're not completely unbiased since you mention twice in your posts that it's just a Nissan. Nothing against Nissan- my cousin still loves his almost 40 year old 240Z, but I couldn't remain completely unbiased either. I had a poster of a Porsche up on my wall as a teenager, not a Nissan. And my wife had to take just one look at a GTR to convince her to let me get the Porsche.

if u dont need a lot of room, opt for the Porsche.

unless u get the convertible, ur kid should be fine in the back seat.
the convertible has less room in the back seat.

Ha ha...I always laugh when I read posts like these.

The GT-R is the best 'all-around' sports car I've ever owned. Period.

Good luck with your decision.
