If you're not speeding or doing anything illegal, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about
That would count most of us Porsche owners out

Best,

Matt

If anyone is on the fence about these, I'm happy with the look on my black car. They're totally unnecessary, but a nice detail. And the instructions do a terrible job of telling you what yo need to do to get the old lights removed - turns out that the wiring harness attaches in the middle of the back of the assembly - facing the engine - rather than on the left or right end, as I assumed. Maybe I'm the only one who took 10 minutes to figure that one out. Anyway, when you know what you're dealing with, it's a no-brainer R&R. The left side took 15 minutes, the right side took 3.

My only worry is bothering drivers behind me at night. These things are seriously bright! But since they aim down, seems like it's all good.

Looks great. LED upgrades are a minimal modification with a huge impact. Every bulb on my 996TT has been converted to SMD LED (except the cluster) and the results are outstanding.

I don’t really understand the point of making the rear license plate the focal point of the car.

That's not the idea behind it. It's a modern update.

I tried to PM Hoen here, but they don't reply. I want to get a set, but they don't reply to e-mails nor do they reply to PM's here. Not quite sure how to feel about their business operation.

I tried the ones from ijdmtoy.com with the built in resistors, but they blow after a couple of uses. When I say blow, I mean that the leds physically get shorted and come right off their spot on the circuit board. I suspect that their resistors are not sufficient or there is a cooling issue with their resistors.

In any case, I'm looking for a solution that will stand the test of time. Any long term reports on the Hoen led license plate lights?

I had HOEN bulbs on 2 other cars for about 2 years with no issues - but not the LED type. I have had great success with autolumination.com and superbrightleds.com products with 2 other vehicles.

Don't hold your breath. "Hoen USA" has a big fat F rating from the Better Business Bureau.

You're right - I had no errors after installing. Basically plug and play.

Also, for what it's worth, I had no issues with my order.

I agree, maybe I'm missing something...I would like to take the bulb out or make it darker not highlight it.

stuck on factory light removal

hey folks,

hope you can help. i'm stuck on the part where i'm supposed to remove the factory light module. it is stuck halfway out and won't come fully out and i pulled and twisted pretty hard, but don't want to break anything...

I followed instructions and unscrewed the screw halfway (tab side). I pulled the tab in and pulled down on the screw to release the module.

However, the other side won't come down and i don't see any tabs. i pulled and twisted hard, now it's stuck... pics below. any advice on getting this removed is greatly appreciated.

Use a flat head screw driver to push the tab in on one side, and then pull the entire assembly to the right to get it loose.

thanks, v35. I was able to push the tab in, but the assembly wouldn't come out even when pulling to the right. something was block it (or i'm just that weak). so i ended up using a utility knive, leveraging 1 directlion and it came out.

thanks for the quick response!
