Pilot Super Sport

I ordered new Tires and was informed that the Pilot Sports are replaced with the new Pilot Super Sport.
Just wondering if anyone has tried them and how they compare with the old ones.

What sizes did you order them in and are they in stock for shipment? I don't think they've been released in the States (outside of a 20" set for Ferrari's) and I'm not aware that Michelin has even released specs yet. Please let us know if you have any info. Thanks,

Thanks! Looks like a May release for 19" tires in an assortment of sizes but the 18" will only available up to a 285/35 18. Not sure if that works on a P-car which is surprising.

Thanks again!

it was quite some amount of hype about them - 'R-comp traction combined with great stability in wet/rain".

Would be interesting to hear from anybody about those new PSS who drives on r-comps and can compare apples to apples.

Just curious where you got that information from. In fact their release states "Pilot Super Sport tires expand the Max Performance Summer tire performance envelope by delivering durability, handling and traction while increasing tread life"

Here is one guys report.
Given 100% (breakdown) while driving a Porsche 997 911 Carrera 4 (295-30-19-W)
Driving on mostly country roads for 3,000 spirited miles

Fitted to my 997 C4.

Replaced the Pirellis, though previously used the Michelin Pilot Sport 2.

The Pilot Super Sport is epic. Dry grip feels up there with the cups, wet grip is better than any other tyre I've used. Not tried in standing water yet but I'm sure they'll do fine.

Can't comment on wear as only been on 3000 miles but them to be wearing well, comparible to the pilot Sports which were always excellent. Looking forward to getting them on track.

tyre reviewed on February 2, 2011

Absent any really negative reviews coming out, I plan to replace my RE-11's, which I've really enjoyed, with the Super Sports when they become available. I wonder if they will be N-approved, Y- rated (186 mph), and receive AA traction ratings? That would be an improvement over the RE-11's, at least on paper. I suspect they will be lighter than the RE-11's too. Hopefully, pricing will not become a deal-breaker.

I would love if Michelin had a size for the GT3RS, becaues I'm about 1000miles from needing new tires and, again, would love to try those on vs another set of MPSCs
