valet or selfpark at borgata?

valet or selfpark at borgata?
Just a quick survey. I haven't been to ac in ages. My wife and I are planning an adults only weekend soon though and this would be the first time I take my p-car. I normally don't valet my car, but I can't help but think in this situation, the valet might be safer than leaving my car in the public lot overnight.I would have to think they get far more exotic cars in valet than mine. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Thoughts... take a different car!
http://www.montrealgazette.com/clock...617/story.html (he was the valet BTW)
No reason to tempt someone... valet or in a public lot overnight.
If you do take p-car and valet, tipping well may prevent some head/heartaches for you.
Hope you win big!
PS- was in AC in late Sept for first time in x number of years... didn't quite have the mystique as I once remember but YMMV.

Never been to Borgata, but at Mohegan or Foxwoods I valet. Pull up give the valet $10 and ask that he put the car where it will be safe and they respond that it will be in VIP parking and not to worry. Never had problem and $10 up front really gets their attention. Cheap insurance. The public lot has tiny spaces and is a s..t show.

I have 20 year old twin daughters (which in itself is sometimes a challenge). So...one of them came by the other day and mentioned that she has a friend who's a valet at a resort here in Scottsdale (BTW, we've moved from CO to AZ) and he sometimes gets tips as high as $100. A few days later she says "Hey dad. Guess what. My valet friend let me sit in a new Lamborghini last night". My coment, linking the two conversations, was that he receives $100 tips to KEEP HIM FROM letting 20 year olds sit in valet-parked Lambos.

if it were me, i'd go with the valet, tip him in advance as suggested by others, and obviously (but without being a *ickhead about it), scribble down the mileage in front of the valet when he takes the keys. i think the chances of a joyride are a lot lower than getting dinged or vandalized in the parking lot, and in the latter case you'll have nobody to point the finger at.
not to get too off-topic (but who know when another valet thread will appear)... has anyone here used or installed one of those "valet mode" devices on their car that limits hp and speed?

I would say go with the valet
In my experience at decent size hotels most valets leave the nicer cars up front and I'm sure if you asked nicely they could leave your car up front, which they most likely would have done anyway. I was at a nice hotel yesterday for a trade show in my Gallardo and the valet just showed me where to park it, and even let me keep my key. I was parked right next to a 430 and a Rolls so I was not to worried about door dings

Thanks for the replies guys!
@ Burg Boxter - taking a different car certainly crossed my mind...especially after my wife said the same thing! However, a. my wife's car while a family hauler is still "conspicuous", and b. it's not a short drive from where I live and taking the station car would be a serious let down. As for winning, I would be happy to not lose a lot
Yeah, I will definitely double check the mileage and tip generously. The last time I went to the Borgata I remembered thinking the self park lot was really pretty bad. And then, I was driving my now station car. I think my chances with the valet are a lot better. And as I said, I have a pretty standard p-car - they must see some pretty exotic looking cars pass through the valet. The only "special" mods I have on mine are the two child seats in the back

I stayed at the borgata last night. Took the Merc due to the bad weather and no snow shoes. But when I do bring the P car I self park. The upper levels have plenty of spots. Park far away and you won't have another car next to you. When I do park valet at other places I give about $3 bucks after they bring back my car. Call me cheap but they get the honor of driving my car, that alone should be enough. I also do not expect any special privileges in return.

Whenever I had no choice but valet, I would tip the guy up front very nicely -- I asked them to let me park my car, and let me keep my key with me.
If I tipped them really well; they would even leave all the adjacent spaces empty and use other cars to block the driveway, to protecting my car.
Regards,

Anyone know about Las Vegas -- Palazzo, Encore, Aria or Four Seasons? The latter seems pretty good. I used to take my M3 to all these places without a second thought. And this was right after the E90 came out, so it was still rare to see this car, I had an early one.
After reading this thread though and now that I have my C2S, I'm not so sure. Anyone have advice for Vegas?

I don't valet my car ever
I rather park my car a few blocks down and walk then valet it..
I've seen too many horrible things.
I've caught a valet picking up girls in my friend's M3. I've seen them do donuts in the parking (I always self park, I don't even ask anymore), I've seen a lambo that was forced to climb a side walk by a valet.
hits, dents, etc..
these people have no value for your car.. usually irresponsible teens who just want to drive nice cars that they probably won't ever afford.
I'm a cynic when it comes to valet parking though. Where I live, pretty much everywhere is valet. I've gotten some of them fired for being up right *******s.

So, for the people that actually have been to the borgata, its a resounding no to valet. I'm glad I asked. Do you think though that parking so far away from the action is a good idea since there is no foot traffic to deter someone from vandalizing your car? This is ac after all and gambling(losing) beings out the worst in people.
