Passport 9500ci Install ideas.

I bought my first 911 a little over a month ago and one of the first things I did was to have the Passport 9500ci installed, after a lot of thought and a ton of research I think I have found some very covert locations for all the bits and pieces and if someone else is thinking of putting the 9500ci into a 997 this might help.

The control panel fits very nicely between the SPORT and the PSM buttons.

If I get stopped or if anyone is looking into the car this is what they see.

Display and power switch, I can turn off the whole system with a flick of the switch.

Color changing LED location.

USB port is in the fuse box.

I don't have a pic of the front but I can take one tomorrow if you want. The shifters are in the "normal" place in the side air intakes, the radar receiver is behind the plastic bumper in the center and seems to work perfectly.

Escort 9500ci Installation

Well done, cleanest installation I've seen. Love the control panel location in particular. What has your experience been regarding the display - is it useful down there or do you rely primarily on the audible / spoken cues?

Thanks very much tsammann, I very rarely look at the display, 90% of the time I just listen to what "she" says and then look at the LED to see when the threat has gone, apart from that I will only look at the display when I am changing settings or just out of curiosity because its all new to me, most of the time the ashtray lid is closed.

i also only listen, unless it goes off, then i look to see why. the audio is plenty loud and can't be missed!

i did mine a bit different -- display in the small storage bin under the wing and PASM buttons, and the control in the ashtray. skipped the led because didn't want to drill and because as i and others have said, it's 90% about the sound.

My car came with a LED in the dash from the previous owner so it was the perfect place for me, if there wasn't a hole there is no way I would of made one.

crazycarlitos, I like the mirror idea but from what I read you cannot do it with an auto dimming mirror.

For what it's worth, I had my 9500ci display installed in the mirror unit of my autodimming mirror. I did seem to notice that the autodim function was not as effective after the conversion, but to be honest, I never really paid attention to it so it could have all just been in my head. I had dark tint on my rear window so it may be worse if you don't have tint.

I had the button switch installed under the ashtray cover and it was custom mounted. I feel like this was the best location as you could just flip it closed if anyone came around. I've attached some pictures.
