Just wondering what you all would consider the better daily driver and why. If anyone has had both please comment.
Thanks,
Chris

There is lots of info on here that compare the two.
Seeing as how you are on a Porsche forum most will say the P-car. It all comes down to what YOU want out of a daily driver and what YOU can afford. Both will be a great DD.

I agree with the above poster in that you will likely hear more Porsche-positive posts here. I daily my 2k9 C2S (pdk). Before that I daily'd a 987, even with a baby. Since we opted for a second, I got the 911. For our lifestyle, it has been ok. Granted, you sacrifice things like space, although I am getting 19+ MPG city miles which I don't think you can get with the M3. Also, personally, I like the 911 better. My $0.03 (inflation).

The quick answer is M3.
It really depends on lifestyle and weather. If you DD the car you might want an AWD 4S because I see you live in MD. Otherwise the M3 or C2S will need snow tires. M3 has more room. Also if you have passengers frequently and more than 1, I would say M3. I have owned both.

I've begun to learn that a DD is relative as well. While we all focus on mileage, reliability and utility, there is also the depreciation associated with a DD. For the M3, miles aren't such a big thing. But since a large number of Porsches are merely weekend cars, mileage really kills the resale value. "Typical" mileage for most cars is what, 12k per year? That isn't typical annual mileage for a Porsche. Something else to keep in mind.
Oh, and this is is a relative comparison. Perhaps an '07 997 compares to an '09 M3. The '09 PDK is going to cost you a lot more.

Good points... But I never consider depreciation when deciding to purchase. I don't purchase a car with the intent to sell. I feel I wouldn't let myself enjoy it for the time I do have it.

It really comes down to what you want out of the car. But I would still opt for an M3. It is relatively cheaper than the C2S and has a really good mod market that is yet cheaper than the C2S mod market.
