PDK and heavy track use

Anybody have experience tracking a PDK say 10-12 times per year? Have an opportunity to get into one of the 09 4S launch cars. Sports buckets and Sport PASM are what I am looking for but hard to find. Only issue is PDK. Not sure.

I have also found an 09 S with Sport Buckets and Sport PASM for roughly the same price.

It will be my daily driver but I typically do 10+ trackdays a year at VIR.

I am currently in a 997.1 C4 with PSS 10s, Swaybars, Girodisc/Pagid Yellows.

Thoughts?

amamamamazing on the track, down shifts and rev matches like a champ.... and no wear to the clutches at all... know a race team that does one and checked it after some races..

put it in sport plus in D and just drive liek that, you'll be amazed..

I had zero issues with a Cayman S equipped with PDK. The only thing I noticed was that the shifts aren't quite as as crisp 20 minutes into a run. Even then it is still faster than my ability with a manual.

Think of coming out of Oak Tree and you only have to think about hitting the brakes and turning the wheel left at the end. The PDK will take care of all the shifting and you will be in the right gear based on your speed.

I'm pretty sure "Porsche" does.. since they've been using a PDK variant for 25 years in their race cars. They didn't release the transmission to the public until they were sure it would take 'our' abuse.

I track my car here in Dubai and Abudhabi and there were days where the temperatures reached 35+ degrees C'. No issues so far besides what Alan C mentioned about the shifting not being quick or smooth when the car starts to build up heat.

Off the topic, but I'd be very interested in your experiences with the track mods to your present car (the C4). Specifically, what you thought about the PSS10s and how you set them up. Which anti-sway bar did you use and did you think it worthwhile?

thanks!

I have been very pleased with the mods.

I used the sway bars from RSS (middle setting).

I have the PSS10s set to their highest height (still low ) and I leave them on the stiffest setting.

If you are interested in exact alignment settings I can provide. I use Brad at Brads digital chassis. Moderately agressive as it is my DD. -2 camber in the back -1 up front I think.

The car really handles beautifully at the track. I run Pilot Sport Cups. Most folks who ride with me are astonished by the grip and stability through turns. My style is reasonably aggressive through the turns and this set up works very well for me. Even though relatively low on power 320 hp I am running consistently in 2:16 range at VIR which is reasonable. I am able to stick with my friend and his 2010 GT3 through the turns but he is gone when we hit the back straight.

I ran PSS10s on my C4S for a couple years. Huge improvement on street and track. Less tire wear. TC Design fab did alignment and corner balance.

But you have to admit it is a lot of fun catching back up to him.
