'06 C2S - oil consumption?

I have an '06 C2S manual, 43,000 miles.

At startup, I always watch the oil level animation on the dash.

It dropped a full bar after 350 miles of driving.

I added a quart a while back and I got the 'full' reading at cold start.

Now I am down the thin bar at the top and the full bar just below it.

What is normal oil consumption for these cars?
Thanks

I'm not sure if there is a "normal" amount. My current 06 C2S with 26k miles is currently consuming about 1 liter every 1500 miles. My 07 Targa 4S hardly used any oil. I believe it is not uncommon with these cars to add a liter every 1500 to 2000 miles.

BTW, when you top it up, the top thin bar should not be illuminated, as that could result in over-filling.

Last time I topped up with 0.7 liters, I believe the middle 2 bars below the thin top bar were blank.

i believe each bar is a 1/4 qt or so. therefore the entire display is (a little less than?) 1 qt. i remember early discussions on this model where some folks would see it "one bar down" and add a whole qt. not good.

I thought you didn't get an accurate measurement until the oil reached temp in a 997.1?

My 06S burns about 1/2 qrt every 2500 miles or so.

My 06S has never consumed enough oil to make it drop even a single bar.

Maybe I need to drive it harder.

i burned (1 qt total) - correction - level went down 3 bars, whatever it is in measurement - for entire last season, 5 DEs, 27 or so AX days and street driving. full bar for 350 miles is not normal. does car smoke after initial 2-3 minutes after start?

PS. wait for level to get down another bar. if it was at all bars - may be level was at 'edge' and it only slightly reduced. if it will go down full 2 bars then you will know something is wrong.

to waste 1/3 qt for 350 miles car should smoke like crazy, if it does not smoke - most likely you are fine.

it varies because the gauge isn't super accurate. my local dealer advised to put in 1/2 quart at a time, wait 5 minutes, then measure, and add more if needed. last time, mine took 1.3 quarts to go from nearly empty bar to nearly full.

Thanks for all the feedback.
The car does not smoke and my indie tells me there are no leaks.
Now I know what volume of oil the bars correspond with, I'm a lot less concerned.

i've noticed the engine loves oil at high rpms.. if i drive spiritedly, the gauge lowers noticeably.. but under normal driving, it hardly dips.

i was also under the impression that each bar is half a quart.. guess i'll try 1/4 quart for each bar next time.. then wait 5mins and see what happens.

btw, what happens when u over-fill ? thx in adv

nothing good happens. oil essentially gets into air intake and goes back into cylinders - in worst case it may cause a hydraulic stress.
always keep oil level as manual shows - not all bar lit but all except one at very top. it is actually pretty important.

Make sure you always check the oil level in the 997.1 when the engine is HOT! Do not check it at cold start! You will get very inconsistent readings. Only check on level ground after the engine is up to temp.

I thought the oil gauge ticks were 0.4 quarts but don't quote me on that.

First off... NEVER add oil when it drops one bar or even two bars. Each bar is about 0.4qt. Add 1qt, when it gets down to the last bar, and verify that it reached that at least in two different days, before adding oil. Too much oil is worse than a little less oil.
