Question re: VF-Engineering Supercharger Kit
Has anyone installed the VF-Engineering Supercharger kit on a 997 that has a factory Aerokit with the GT3 upper vent grille?
It appears that there will be some interference between GT3 upper vent and the intercooler's watertank that is mounted behind/above the bumper in the same location as the vent grille. I talked to Nik at VFE and he could only tell me about an experience he was aware of with a 996 where an installer had to "mold" the watertank with a heat gun to provide clearance for the GT3 vent grille in order to remove an "unsighlty bulge".
Thanks in advance for any information.

As I recall from my installation there was enough room above the new roto-molded plastic front coolant tank to accommodate a GT3 front bumper's top grille. However, I doubt you would experience much cooling benefit from this added top grille, as the front coolant tank occupies the line of air flow precisely between the 3rd front radiator and where the new grille at the top of the front bumper would be.

Thanks Cattman. During the install of my S/C kit I tried to determine if there was enough room and it appeared that there might be. However, without any validation from someone other than myself, I did not have the ***** to cut the hole in my front bumper for that grille only to find out that it didn't quite fit right. I had purchased the GT3 grille long before purchasing the S/C kit - just wanted it for aesthetic purposes only. Thank goodness I had not already installed it, otherwise I might still be dealing with that if there had been an interference issue. Anyway, I finished installing the S/C kit this weekend (sans grille) and everything seems to be running well. Knowing full well that there will be no functional benefit from it, I may still decide at some point in the future to install the GT3 grille as I really like the looks of it. I just have to decide if I am willing to deal with solving a potential interference issue or the cost of replacing the bumper cover if I can't get it to fit well.

mkatkins,
I'm also finishing up the installation of my s/c kit as well and the intercooler fits underneath the GT3 bumper w/o problem. IIRC the grille does serve a purpose other than aesthetics. Aside from allowing air to enter the front radiator and leaving the top of the bumper, there's a small lip on the front edge of the grille. This allows some downforce to the front end during high speed run, IIRC. This was mentioned in either Panorama or Excellence magazine.

Having an 06 997s TIP back then (obviously with the TIP front radiator), there was indeed a slight set of indents when I put the GT3 bumber on. That being said, the (final) SC install was done by EVOMS in Tempe. 6 months later, when I added the GT3 front bumper, there was and obvious set of indentations for the fitting. I will try to find some old pics. In any case, if you surch my user CP, you should be able to find the pics.

6 speed or TIP. In the case of the TIP, the VF front radiator was not needed and an adaption was made to the existing TIP front radiator.
