Cheap Mobil 1

Hey guys,

Just got a deal at Advance Auto parts. 5 quarts of Mobil 1 + a Mobil 1 filter for $32! I don't need the filter, so I'll return it later and get back $8 (sale price). So, 5 quarts for $24. That's $4.80/qt. No limit on how much you can buy.

How much is it at the BX (0W40 Euro formulation)? And no tax...

This is why I love 6speed... I was just starting to think about a spring oil change, and was about to start trying to track down some inexpensive Mobil 1. Then, along comes this post...

To the OP - I've seen a bunch of conflicting posts about the size of the oil filter wrench needed to remove the canister. Some say 74MM and others say 76MM. And some people say it's 74.5, so you really need to suck it up and by the $39 OEM wrench. I heard advance has a tool called the "B" size that works.... What do you use?

Hey all,

To answer the questions...BX here doesn't have 0W40. All weights that they carry are that price. They don't have the 997 Oil filter in the Mobil 1 brand, so I just picked 2 random ones as I am going to return them anyway. I run the Porsche filter. For no other reason than I have a couple of them sitting around. And yes, it is the full synthetic 0W40. Hope I covered it all. Oh yea, the wrench. I haven't changed mine as it has fallen in line with the other services and the labor on the change at Jone's Autowerks in San Antonio is very reasonable. Just thought half price Mobil 1 was an incredible deal. Glad to help!
