New (to me) 997, pix attached
What a great couple of days culimating in my 2007 997 parked neatly in the garage:
1. Flew from Atlanta to Cleveland on Sunday evening, free using skymiles. Delta got me there early, which was a good omen. My contact at the dealership emailed me a few times, making sure I was on schedule for Monday morning.
2. Checked in to the hotel, free using Marriott points (seeing a trend here?).
3. Was picked up in a spanking new Cayenne at 9am sharp for the quick drive to the dealership. Got some work done before then, just trying to make the time go faster!
4. Visually inspected the soon-to-be 911, which looked better in real life than in the pictures. Atlas Grey is a choice color.
5. Took the car out for a test drive, all senses on high alert for anything funky from the clutch, transmission, brakes, engine, etc. The car checked out perfect to me so we were back to the dealership to finalize the deal.
6. Met with the finance mgr who got all the paperwork done; how many times do you have to initial/sign before they hand you the keys? Apparently a lot. Oh well.
7. Now the big moment when Chris hands me the keys, books and CPO information. The car has a full tank of gas so I'm off and running.
8. First leg is 8 hours south to my parents' house in Tennessee. The car is so righteous. Couldn't keep the smile off my face. The car is so darn solid and responsive! My dad has had a few sports cars, but was very impressed with the 997. Then took my mom for a quick jaunt and gave it some extra gas on an on-ramp; she was blown away and suggested she keep the 997 and I take her Acura sedan. Ummm, no way.
9. Second leg was the next morning (only a quick 3 hours) to Atlanta where I finally pulled in the neighborhood in the Atlas Grey beast. Called the wife when I was about 10 minutes out to meet me out on the driveway. The look on her face was priceless ... she loves the car. We went out for a quick ride and she enjoyed all the looks we were getting!
10. The final step of all this was selling the BMW 325. Took it to the car wash place and then off to CarMax. Got a fair offer within about 20 minutes and got picked up with check in hand.
11. Got home and my two boys (age 11) were very excited to get in the car. They fit perfectly in the two back seats and we were off for a quick ride. They love the car, go figure.
12. Installed 2 bumperplugs and clear side markers, which were waiting for me on the kitchen table. Props to Eric at bumperplugs for the quick delivery!
So that's enough bloviating for one early evening. Suffice to say, the car exceeds my expectations. Very, very pleased. On to the pictures!

The mileage was 11,100. Pretty low, eh? Options are:
Bose
Bi-xenons
19" Carrera Classics
PCM (but not nav, which is odd)
Power Seats
Keep up the fight. I looked for a couple of months on Autotrader.com and the Porsche website before running across this one. The right car will appear. What specifics are you looking for?

I think that's part of the problem. Sometimes I want a 997.2 C2S or C4S. Then I think I want a GT3. Then when I'm feeling really crazy I want a 997.1 Turbo. I suppose when the right car comes I will know it.......

Congrats, reminds me of my flight to PA to pick mine up and drive it home to Atlanta. What a great feeling - after two years, still loving mine every day. Hope to see you at a PCA event or Caffeine and Octane meet one Sunday!
