Why not sell it yourself? It wont be that hard, seems like you have a nice clean turbo..Then go beat them up on that cab

Yours is not a bad offer for a stock Turbo. In fact KBB (what you chose as a tool) lists it at 73K and change in fair condition and that close to what dealerships offer even if the car is a cherry.

To make matters tougher doesn't California tax the entire vehicle that you are buying ?

CPO -- is erased BTW .

Why don't you keep the car ?
I think your Turbo is nicer than a C2S cab.

You can get a 1 week subscription to Galves Pricing for $8.95. Not free like the others, but probably money well spent.

[quote=Steamboat;3156623]It's just a deal.........no use getting emotional or personal about it. As soon as you do they have the advantage. It's a car, not a loved one, so move on if they aren't offering what you want.

Of course the car is not "a loved one", IT'S THE MONEY THAT IS THE "LOVED ONE'

Actually every Porsche I've ever bought/traded, has been pretty well in line with the Edmunds or KBB 'fair' trade in price or retail price. And NEVER pay sticker price, even for what they are offering for a used car. There is always padding in there.

Wow, where did you get the Manheim listings? Wow, a TT with 91k miles, that's insane. Looks like he was low balled a bit on the trade. FWIW, I was also low balled about 8% on my car. If you are serious about the deal, they will reconsider your trade value and probably come up a bit. No need to be emotional about it - pure business. No one wants to hold cars. Economy is not that much better and these cars are slow movers. Trade in values are at the low end of the range everywhere.

As others have said, why would you trade a TT for a cab??? Dealer resale of the CPO invalidates it. Porsche would need to buy the CPO again to certify that car. If you sell it privately, a new owner could benefit so there is real value to sell it privately.

Wouldn't there be a tax savings on a trade in? If this was done in NJ you would have saved another $5-$6000 on the trade.

The car is now on ebay as well as here, on the for sale section. The only reason I am trying to sell is to get a convertible for Arizona driving. I set out for a PDK C4S originally but there are none to be found. It is nice to have the "widebody" and all wheel drive but the C2S is only 44mm or 1.7 inches narrower... so I decided to opt for a C2S. So, basically if the dealer wants book value for his 2009 C2S @ $89,988 he should have at least offered book value on my trade as well... That's the way I see it.

Montana has no sales tax, therefore I don't have to pay it in California either... The car would be delivered to the Nevada border.

I had a recent experience confirming that it makes sense to shop around - I recently became interested in trading in my '06 M5 and my '08 C2S Cab to get a Pana TT. The first dealership I went to: wanted to underpay me for my C2S, wanted to way underpay me on my M5 because of a silly issue on the CarFax (which I tracked down an explanation for), and was only willing to discount the Pana TT by $2-$3k - on a $150+k car!!

I went to another local dealership that seemed interested in doing business with me - gave me better prices on my trades and far better pricing on the TT. At the end of the day it was a considerably better deal.

Car is scheduled to be finished April 16, so should get here mid-May. Very excited!
