Are Porsche dealers for real?
Today I offered a Certified Pre Owned 2007 911 Turbo as a trade in for a 2009 Certified C2S Cab. The Beverly Hills Porsche dealer offered me $10k less in trade than any KBB, NADA or Edmund's appraised value. According to the manager, Certification is wiped when a dealer buys a CPO as they have to recertify it again. Is this true or a crock of poo? I was offered $75k for a 2007 911 Turbo with Ceramic brakes and 8600 miles... How fair is that? If they expect us to buy their cars at the book value, why can't they offer us the same courtesy? I am soo pissed...

Thanks for the comment HB, really appreciate your input. But $10k under the KBB trade in value??? That's insane brother . They will have the car on the lot 48 hours later for $90,000...

Hmmmmm. Give you $75k and then list it for $90k. Dealer spends $500-1000 to service and $3k to CPO it. Leaves $12k for negotiating and profit, not counting floor plan costs. Lots of profit there.

KBB, NADA, Edmunds is for the everyday consumer like myself... I use the tools that are available to me.

It's just a deal.........no use getting emotional or personal about it. As soon as you do they have the advantage. It's a car, not a loved one, so move on if they aren't offering what you want. They can do whatever they want on their lot.....you don't get to vote.
PS It has nothing at all to do with being "fair". Once you embrace that concept, you will become a better negotiator. Seriously.......

Sounds consistent. I just test drove an 07 Turbo, manual, regular brakes with 8000 miles. They were asking 78k, so obviously they low-balled whomever turned it it too.
New cars profit the manufacturer. Used profit the dealer.

Unfortunately, to be a good negotiator you have to be willing to walk away. And they have us addicted to that crack pipe called "Porsche".

It's all good guys cause they never gave me a chance to negotiate. Of course, an hour later the sales rep insisted it was a "blind offer" and he was hoping that I did not get offended.... Porsche or not, everyone has a taste of the bad times we live. Anywho, appreciate the comments.

I understand that KBB, NADA, Edmunds etc are the tools available to you, but the dealers use the tools available to them ie Mannheim etc as this reflects the price of vehicles available to them.
Fair to you? Maybe not but thats their name of the game,
As stated above don't get bent out of shape because you do not like what you hear, just walk away or try a few other dealers for trade in prices. You will very quickly get a handle on what your car is worth to the trade.
Good luck.
